Roll Out

APA happened to it.

Ask most casual players what it is and they have no idea because all they have played is APA's silly rules.

Made it easy for everyone to compete. However, we lost a vital part of the game. In the late 60's, I saw some great pool matches, with great players!

Scorekeeper Update 2.1

This just rolled out..and is already being used by players across the country. Now anyone can use the 8 Ball Action Match feature and compare final statistics. 9 & 10 ball coming next month.

TAP licensees are giving up gas bills and are now going paperless too!

Mandatory shooting elevated the game to a new level, imo
What 'mandatory' shooting? 1 foul is shoot and duck, shoot and duck. It should be called 9 ball - 1 pocket. pushout is a shooters game. Gotta know how to break out clusters, bank, and shoot SPOT SHOTS!
Hopefully. TAR will put together a pushout match for everyone to see.
Then say good nite to 1 foul.
ps
The va state 10 ball at diamond billiards had the best players in the area. They averaged 3-4 safeties per game!. I believe you ment 1 foul has taken 9-10 ball to a new LOW level...lol
Pushout-or-die!!!

Now we are getting some where. This is what the game is all about, MATCH UP!!!!!

I matched up at pushout till about 91'. Then nobody would play pushout. So, for the first time in 26 yrs of gamblin at 9 ball and banks, I started playing 1 pocket ( the game with more rolls than any game invented ). ! foul players love it....you can DUCK on every shot...lol.

All those things but the spot shot are in 1foul too:confused:

And I'd trade the spot shot for the kick shot 8 days a week, mr.

It can be changed back, we're not truly stuck with One Foul.....it's all an illusion.

Push Out or Roll Out disappeared when Texas Express rules hit the seen.
These rules were also adopted as TV rules. The game would be too long to televise playing 2 foul.
Best,
Ken

That's what the common story is, however, TWO SHOT is not any more difficult to post edit for TV. Pool is not LIVE anyway, so they can cut anything out they want as far as "dead time".....there are ways to produce it on TV to capture the best of the game AND eliminate all the "waste" (walking around, stalling, looking, racking, etc).

Two Shot Shoot Out (Roll Out) is by far the best way to play and watch pocket billiards. The One Foul makes the tournaments go faster so I can see why the promoters wanted it......however, it the process of changing the rules they "through the baby out with the bath".

Mr. Slinger... It is a shame you wasted all those years, before taking up a game which required some mental dexterity..
..By the way, all pool games have "rolls" involved in them, that's because the balls are round.(duh)...As you will learn eventually, one pocket relies LESS on rolls, than most ANY other pool game !

Yes, you CAN 'duck' every shot if you like, but you will never get the 8 balls you need, to win the game...And, you had better learn WHERE you are ducking to, and why !.. This is why most 9 baller's get a headache, playing one pocket..It requires so much more thinking, than just "painting by the numbers" !

It sounds like you may prefer shooting dice or flipping coins !..In that case, you should have stuck with 9 ball...It was invented for people who didn't have the patience to learn another great game..Straight Rotation ! ;)

PS..You are right about 2shot foul, being much better than TE rules in 9 ball...But give one pocket a fair chance...
...Almost all good player's get hooked on it pretty quick ! ;)

Sigh....

I will again write that the APA rules with slop and one foul ball in hand are the rules that the pros were playing 8-ball at the time. Silly or not.

One foul ball in hand 9-ball was / can be traced to others tournaments.

Straight Rotation and Straight Pool, is how I learned to play the game. It will speed up the process!

I gave way to a better faster game where more talents are needed or losing quick is a certainty ,, The only ones that want the old rules are the old players who cant kick ,, never seemed to be a problam with Eferan

You still use kicking in 2 shot foul in a few different ways. In order to roll out, you have to be able to push the cue ball to a spot on the table that works in your strategy.

Sometimes that might involve a two or three rail kick with speed control. You could use an object ball to gain a slightly different angle when you carom off of it or use it to stop the cue ball's roll.

Another reason to know how to kick is when you mess up your roll and you can't see the object ball. :grin-square: I like to break out balls on my push out and leave a long draw shot for position. Or tie balls up and leave an open tough shot. Lots of ways to use a kick in push out pool.

People have to play it to see for themselves. A good push out player could beat a better player with moving depending on the skill levels of each player.

Best,
Mike

The better player is going to win most games most of the time regardless of rules
this make belief thinking that 1 foul some how ruined the game is like saying the King james version is ruining christianity ,,,, its simply a non factor

I love it when people think that we who don't like the current rules can't kick/jump. I love taking their money even more!;) It doesn't change the fact that the current rules leave a LOT to be desired strategically.
