U.S. Open 10 Ball Champion to Play 10 Ball Ghost tonight at 10pm!! BIgfoot Action!!

Rodney just won the last US OPEN 10 Ball and beat the "best of the best" to do it.

I feel like I'm "knocking" him to a bunch of suckers. ;) But no one will play him anyway, even on Diamond tables which is his weakest game. On Gold Crowns with worn cloth he was one of the two toughest players I ever gambled with.... Efren in an "all Filipino pool room" in Seattle was the other one.......Johnny Archer gets a close 2nd. :D

I wish it was like the "old days," but the report I'm getting from DCC is the same ole stuff.....it's not the past that's "stuck," it's the present. 'The Game is the Teacher'

You forgot to mention in that tournament he was down 9-2 or 9-3 going to 13 and came back to win against Dennis Orcollo. That is unheard of and one of the biggest comebacks for a major tournaments final.

Saw him giving Bartrum the 8 playing 10 ball for 5 or so dimes back when CB was heavier.Bart won.

That is very true and I am not saying he could not win for the cash as many of them have the ability but can he handle gambling high with someone who can?

Wel, I can recall Niels coming thru dc in 2005 and hiving anyone who wanted it the 7 and the break for 200- 1k sets and I don't recall him losing to anyone. Players that were winning the planet pool events at the time...you all know em.

Was it gambling? Didn't really look like it was, to be honest.

Who were the players he gave the 7 and the break? $200-$1000 sets I would not call gambling high though. Has he played a set gambling with another top pro for $10,000 or more?

Rodney Morris is a great player. Why would anyone debate this? Is he the best player in the world? Probably not, but he can definitely beat the best player or players in the world on any given night. His talent level is top notch. Nobody really shoots straighter than this guy. It seems that he only really gets himself in trouble with periodically suspect safety and position play, probably because his pace of play is sometimes too fast

Yes,he's a great player. My problem is that nobody can seem to say whether or not he's beaten a champion in a gambling match recently.

Every single story about how great of a gambler he is are all about the Rodney of yesterday. 10 or more years ago, I could believe he was a great gambler. But players lose a touch as they get older. It doesn't mean he sucks now. I would never say that about Rodney.

If he was dogging it to generate more action that would make it a very slimy tactic that reflects poorly on pool and himself.

I am not suggesting he was but if he was...

Why is that? That's what this game is. It's never changing pal. You gamble and you try to win all you can. Just like poker, maximize your wins.

But those that don't gamble think that's bad.

Bartram, Compton and Nevel would not beat Rodney in a long race of 10 ball IMO, Shuff or Dechaine might have a chance but I still think Rodney wins those matches too. All those Europeans could get played at DCC against Rodney but none of them will step up for the cash there.

None of those guys he mentioned have a chance, nor does Shuff or Dechaine.
None of them will even play even, that's Internet talk.

And all he mentioned (euros)need the 8 from SVB. They can't outrun that break. The above players need way more then the 8.

Niels plays as good as anyone in the world.

In short race tourneys. Get it right. He's like DAZ, he's not as talented, takes a whole lot more mental focus, that don't bode well gambling in longer sets. Just f.y.i.

Wtf am I'm smart ending up these internet suckers for my girlfriend just asked. Even she knows these things.

In terms of the ghost and Rodney. I recall Rodney stating that he beat the 15 ball ghost at Hard Times last year. He posted this claim on facebook around the time of either the Swanee or the 10 ball tournament in July. That is very impressive.

I thought I read a Bartram post recently that they wanted to stake Neils in some games at derby?

Anyone? Chris? Rodney did say he would play any European.

People have no idea how well Rodney plays for money. Jose Parica told me about 10 years ago that Rodney and Alex were the 2 best money players in the world.

Rodney 10 years ago could spot Rodney today the 7 out and get the cash. His game is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. He has flashbacks now on occasion, but he "was" once a beast.

I am sure Rodney is not going anywhere near Stalev for the cash, someone on another thread stated that he took out Biado for the cheese, that is action beyond what Rodney wants any of at this point.

I would LOVE for Rodney to prove the naysayers such as myself wrong and challenge Stalev to a long set for big cash, I cannot see him liking that action "at all" though.

Stalev I am sure could get played in 10 ball with Rodney. Stalev beat Biado in one pocket, not 9 or 10 ball which is a big difference. Frost beat Wang Can...in one pocket, they changed his name to Wang Cant...play one pocket. :p

Stalev doesn't play pool anymore, comeon. He's not been playin much for a long long time. He's full fledged into poker. He's probably just at derby for a little poker break. He definitely can't play like he did 15 years ago. He played at world class speed then. Very elite. He's nowhere near that.
