So I got the new Cyclop balls and I like the way they play, so I weighed the Cyclops, the Raschig, and the Aramith.
Aramith all weighed about 166 -167 grams
Raschig all weighed about 161-162 grams
Cyclop all weighed about 168-169 grams

They all play similar, they are all balls, but I would have to say the cyclops seem like they hit a little different but they play okay to me.
I jumped in on that Cyclop deal even though I already had one set.

Are you saying that there is no more than 1 gram difference between each ball
on a particular set?

Did you weigh every ball?
 
At the Derby I saw them weigh the Cyclop balls and the object balls were all 5.9 oz the Cue ball was 6.0 even.
I also got in on the deal and will scale mine in grams when I get them later this week . I wish I had one of the testers that checks for roundness but I do not.
They did not seem to take CIT like other sets of balls. I know they did not turn the same when I hit them on Thursday before the tournament started, by the middle of the week they seemed to play closer to the aramith but still a little less CIT. I think the slicker surface and different composition changes how they play.

Yeah, every Cyclop ball weighs 168 g unless my scale is off but I don't think so. The cue ball actually weighed 169 g

Interesting most snooker balls have a 3 gram tolerance

The professional TC set I gram tolerance.

Premier set 124 grams with 3 gram tolerance.

Tournament champions 143 grams and pros would play with this set
at a 1 gram tolerance.
 
Cyclops difference

The only differece I noted playing thrm at DCC was the CB has less friction with the cloth. On the new, super tight Simonis the cuball would travel just a littlemore than expected, especially if it was spinning. Otherwise they play good. The CB has a finish that didnt seem to hold chalk. Never had a ball skid.
 
I weighed several ball sets a few weeks ago.

First, I weighed my Aramith Tournament ("Duramith") set. I did not have a scale so I did the obvious; I packed up the balls and headed to the Post Office. Their self service scale reports in tenths of ounces.

Aramith Tournament:
Object Balls: 6.0oz (all of them)
Cue Ball: 5.9oz (this CB came with the set)
Aramith Measles Cue Ball: 6.0oz (I purchased this separately)

I play in a bar that uses Valley bar-boxes with a magnetic CB return mechanism. I suspected the CB there was heavy, since it was hard to draw. To get around that I bought an Aramith Tournament Magnetic Cue Ball (the one with the little green Aramith symbol on it). At the bar they had a scale that measures in quarter ounces. Here's what we found:

POS house object balls: 6.5oz
POS house cue ball: 7.0oz
Aramith Tournament Magnetic Cue Ball: 5.75

If I use the heavier house CB, it will be hard to draw but easier to follow.
If I use the lighter Aramith CB, it will be easier to draw but harder to follow.

Only on AZB could you get away with a thread header like that and have most people take it at it's true meaning.
But the visual image of the alternative is just too much to imagine.
 
I just weighed my Raschig set and each ball was spot-on at 165g.

I used a cheapo WeightMax postage scale that I bought on ebay quite some time ago.
 
I weighed 4 sets

I set my standard as the Brunswick Centennials I own as it always seemed to me they played better than any other set out there. But I was suprised at what I came up with.

The Centennials varied from 5.85 to 5.95 across the board. I expected closer tolerances from these.

My Super Aramith Pros varied from 5.9 to 5.95 with most closer to the 5.95 range.

My new Cyclops Skittle set was from 5.9 to 5.95 on the playing balls but an even 6 on the cue ball. I had heard people say the cue played "heavy" and I have to agree. They still play fantastic.

My also new Cyclop Traditional set all weighed 5.90 on the money. I was suprised. They too played great. Really like them so far.

I guess my only complaint is the cue balls on the Cyclops are almost too white. They look like a giant pearl. I adjusted quickly and put it out of my mind but the initial reaction was to stare at it a little too much while aiming.
