Let's build a World Class Pool Training Facility

That would be a pretty cool idea, don't you think. You know, someplace where professional pool players could have access to the latest and greatest training facility in the world, with pocket billiard equipment from every corner of the earth. Make sure it contains a physical fitness gym. Lots of video equipment for reviewing techniques and recording training.

Yea, that would be pretty cool.

This is great idea, if it becomes franchise, otherwise travel to and from might be an issue. But IMO Government should consider a high budget for high quality recreation centers in every city with many good pool tables (not tables with holes and if you put the CB on one end roles to the other end by itself) and fully staffed with professionals and experts, this not only improve quality of life for the needy but might improve pool image in the US, and maybe it will flourish one day.

really??

hmmmm...with a projected 2014 budget deficit of $744 billion along with a current debt load of $17 trillion....I'm not 100% sure that the US Government is in the best position to begin rebuilding the US pool scene.

It's currently being built, as we speak!!!!

Well, yes, in the Netherlands and Spain. The money comes from their Sports Ministry or National Olympic Committee, as I understand it.

You can read about what they have ALREADY DONE in Austria by clicking here.

You can even take a virtual tour of the facility, although the equipment is not fully viewable.

Not to disagree with you Randy, but it was already built over 30 years ago in Richardson TX. Randy Goettlicher and a couple of other master instructors created the Cue Tech Pool School, a fixed facility, with a set curriculum, where thousands of poolplayers of all abilities, including pros, have trained. Nobody has turned out more excellent players, across the board than Randy. IMO he should be in the HOF for this accomplishment alone...let alone all of the other things he has done for our sport, over the past four decades!

This sounds like a great idea. Better yet a training facility for youth.

Mark Wilson has already taken a step in this direction with his program at Lindenwood University in Missouri. His increased visibility as Mosconi captain will bring lots of attention to his college program. Let's hope it induces others to start similar programs.

I agree Stu! I mentioned before that there are several of our more prominent instructors (including randyg, Blackjack, Joe Tucker, and myself) who would jump at a chance to lead a program like Mark's at universities near us! Mark is doing a great job, and I'm excited to see this breakthrough for our sport!

Pro players in the U.S are deserving of ZILCH, ZERO,NADA.
They are already on the lazy side and expect handouts, which they get more then their share of. What about cue sponsors, free tips, shirts, hats, jackets, entries to some events.

What else do you think they deserve for FREE? At some point you got to earn on your own.

If it wasn't for the amateurs they would not be getting what I listed above. But they would never think that makes sense.

This is the U.S. It's not Europe, Philippines, Australia, the government does not and is not going to pay them.
