I think blue looks the best on Diamonds and green looks best on Gold Crowns. I don't really worry about what color the cloth is, I just play.

I had a discussion about cloth colors in 2005 with Greg Sullivan when the blue cloth first came to the fore.

He told me that the color of the Simonis cloth is called "TOUR BLUE." After studies were conducted on this hue of blue, it was determined that this was the BEST on one's eyes to see clearly. Tennis venues also went to TOUR BLUE in their color schemes.

It helps the shoot, allot....for those handling video/still shots.

I was told that the switch to blue was done to help the TV cameras? Dunno if that's true or not.

I voted green because I'm an old curmudgeon who likes traditional. Either cloth looks good to me.

HATE RED!

Tournament Blue is a lighter color, so you don't need as much wattage overhead to get the same view-ability.

I think the balls stand out much better on blue.

I think lighting plays a bigger part than people are aware. A well lit Green table is just fine. But since most bar room situation leave something to be desired where lighting is concerned, Tour Blue is the choice. I hate aiming at the 8 on the rail at the other end of the table ond only being able to 'guess' where the edge is.

I like the blue...it's what I have on my table too.

L8R...Ken

I like the blue for visual advantages in dark rooms, but, I like the speed of the green better. The blue seems to play faster.

With Greg Sullivan being one of the main promoters of the blue cloth, you have to wonder how much of the switch has to do with product branding with Diamond, and others just jumping on the band wagon.
Green is traditional, going all the way back to the lawn games from which the table games came from. I like the old blue-green cloth the best, but Simonis Tournament green was a step forward in sharpness and contrast to the balls.
Im just hoping the Tournament blue falls out of fashion sooner than later. The same way that gold and tan cloth did when people were promoting them as being better for the eyes.

I can't speak for others jumping on the bandwagon, but Greg's reason to go to Tour Blue has already been stated enough times, even on this thread that there should be no more of these silly inferences. I remember early when he was thinking of the switch to blue.

The man did a study for the betterment of pool.Period. To think otherwise is immature and gross.

Fred, i was throwing out a thought, that did not require a condescending response on your part. To respond as you did was as you put it immature.
