An idea for extra fundraising for AZB.

There should be an option to purchase one month of AZ Gold for another user. A way to thank them, or appreciate a helpful post. It would encourage others, and some users would actually not have to pay, because of the content provided.

This is done on a very large website www.reddit.com, and it has been wildly popular. I know for a fact I would have purchased many months for people along the way.

The membership has asked, actually begged for AZB T-shirts to no avail. I bet if AZB would ever put together a T-shirt deal which could be used to entice additional GOLD members and be sold at a discount for current GOLD members it would be ...

1. A good advertising campaign as members would wear them in pool halls.

2. Increase GOLD membership dramatically because they would be instantly rewarded for paying for a GOLD membership.

Just because your idea of Guilting and Cajoling Non Gold AZB members didn't work all that well.

Its like buying a person a beer at the bar. Do you buy a person one for whatever reason or do you have to buy them 12.

Like he mentioned, it would be an inexpensive way of saying Thank You to another member.

If another member got enuff one month memberships, he may be good for close to a year.

After a person has the ability to try out a complimentary Gold for a month, they might be willing to do a Gold on their own after theirs runs out.

I like the idea of giving a One Month Gold try out to a member. Charge $5 or whatever for a one month Thank You membership and they would essentially be doubling the normal 12 month Gold profit.

I probably would be willing to send more members a 5 dollar one month membership than the cost of a Gold for 3 months. They would get a lot more sales that way. I think people might go a little crazy sending them out just like a Green rep.

Green reps are nice to receive with a compliment but a month Gold with a compliment would be very cool.

I don't think that AZB can do Pay Pal but many members here use it. I might send 3 for 15 dollars rather than just one for that price.

Get me in a beer mood and I might send 20.

Just think of how good that would make someone feel if they logged in and realized that they had a Gold. A PM in their mailbox from AZB saying someone just turned you Gold.

I rather like the idea myself. But then, I also like eating Haggis and Mexican Grass Hoppers. so I am a little weird some days.

There is a way of selling this type of thing to people. In the real world, maybe not yours, it is called the Soft Sell.

See, being Gold on this board is not necessary in order to enjoy it. Just like many other things in a persons life. Being Gold, is an option, not a necessity.

Making Bronze or Silver members feel like cheap SOBs for not going Gold is pretty much the approach that you took in your thread, and in my opinion, the absolute wrong way to go about it.

Just because you have extra cash to toss, doesn't mean everyone else is in the same position at the moment. People will do what they want in their own time.
Pushing them will put them in the opposite direction.

I love the extra PM space and to me, that is worth the money, among a few other features.

Other people may see it differently.
That is up to them to decide, not yourself.

I know I may be new here, but I'm starting to notice how every thread that starts out with good intentions and a good idea, eventually turns into a childish bicker no matter who says what..... Why? What's the point? wouldn't it just be a lot easier to just go about your business and ignore it? I may be young compared to most on here, but the maturity level being shown is quite appalling to say the least.

But back to the topic at hand, I think it's a great idea as well as the T-shirt idea. Would help bring more revenue to the site, as well as bring in more membership from people that wouldn't really know the site exists. I know quite a few people who truly love all things billiards and had no idea this site existed until I told them about it.

That's a two-fer if I ever saw one. More revenue and more members which could possibly equal even more revenue.

To the OP, great idea, way to use your noggin lol. And to the AZB team, thanks for making this idea a reality and being open to input from your members.

That being said. Can you add a button on each post that would be a link to purchasing gold for the user. Ideally it would auto populate with the users information you are purchasing it for. An icon by where you report a post or add rep points. This would make it quick and easy. I can't see the support AZB banner. I dont know if its because I am gold, or that I use Ad block plus. Either way, I would be more inclined to purchase for others the easier it is to do it.

I have referred several AZers via PM on how to become a Gold Member and I see that they've joined.
So the more the merrier and come on everyone...."Get on the Gold Membership Bus Today."

The fare is only ten cents per day and the ride is more than enjoyable.....and you get to see nits like
the bluepigrider relentlessly pick on me.....it's kinda funny to read his utterings while watching
new Gold members sign up. Imagine how much more could be accomplished if....never mind......nits

Like this thread. The OP had a great idea to be able to give a Gift of Gold for one month. And you felt the need to dive in.

I thought that it was a good idea. Why not in some threads, just let the OP have an opinion to himself instead of trying to change it to your liking.

And AZ House Pro mentioned that one would be able to purchase Gold in monthly increments. Good stuff.

I am going to be buying a few for the good guys on here.

If you didn't want to do a large run of shirts you could make the t-shirt available only as an option of a year gold membership purchase. You could have monthly, quarterly, biyearly, yearly, and yearly plus t-shirt options. That way the t-shirt would only go to yearly supporters and it would possibly get people who really want the t-shirt to pony up the cash for a year membership.
