There always back lash. I beat a person that lives in the bay area in a end of the month open tournament 5-3. I was focused and played well. Why can't the better player just say good playing kid! Instead I get you got the 8 ball for $1000. Actions like these make me not want to play pool. Lately I've been working on my game and mostly my attitude while playing it. I was taught by Dave Piona so naturally I am a cry baby. 6 months ago I stopped *****ing and started running out more often. I hope one sat someone will be disappointed they lost but proud I played well under the pressure. Sorry for the rant. Jesse

That's all you got? You usually get...."Ahhh...I really didn't feel like playing tonight. I just couldn't get into it. I wasn't tryin' really. I have so much on my mind I just didn't care. Mostly because of this friggin' migrane I've had. I knew I shouldn't have come down here. Should have just stayed home. 'Specially with my cue having to go get fixed. I ended up not gettin' a single roll in that set anyway. You see that. You got every roll."

Or something close to it.....

Bob

That has bugged me in the past too, though I usually get offered the 7.

Depending on how much I like the person, I usually tell them any thing from 'sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail', 'cmon, man! Can't be the first dose you ever got', 'wouldn't want to hurt your feelings anymore', 'I liked it, guess for every high, there is a low'.

I kinda like the last one, coz it usually make them think about it for a while and the come back later with a comment about it.

Oh forgot the ways popular,' so you aren't as happy about it as I am' and' ,'I recon you being a bit of a pu$$y'.

Just to be objective, the better player when they enter tournaments puts some of their rep on the line as well. Since pool is a game where in a short race like you describe, a race to 5, anyone can win you haven't really beaten anyone.

To come on here and say you beat the guy you would have to have beat him for real. You won a single short race, you didn't bust the guy after a 10 hour session. It is one of the reasons players don't really like to play for fun. They can win nothing but they can lose some of their rep.

If you really thought you could beat him you would have offered to play him with the 8 when he asked for what you were comfortable playing for, maybe $50. or a $100.. I have a feeling you were afraid if you did counter offer he would say yes.

good shooting

Hey man good shooting in the tourney! No need to sweet the guys who think their shit don't stink and they can beat any body in the world.

Everyone shoots good from now and again and somtimes it just happens to be when you are playing a really good player.

Keep practicing and playing then the next tourney tell him you want the 7 and the 8 and take him down lol

That has happened to me at least a couple of times. I came back with,
Nah, I can't right now. I have to give this cue back to the guy I borrowed it from

You do not need anyone to say anything, f,,..,, m focus on tournament prize, you can pull his chain and give and take and have fun doing it, tell him you will give him the 7 for 2k, then walk away

This reminds me of a story I heard. It almost sounds too good to be true.

Buddy Hall offered Danny Medina the 8. Danny replied with something like, "You can have the 8!" Then he gave it to him and beat Buddy for the cash.

Like I said, I don't know if it's true, but it would be cool if it was.

You know, I have to make another comment. Over the years I have won matches against good players I know were by far the favorite, I'm not delusional. Players like Jersey Red, Miz, Louie Roberts, I know they are angry, they have plans on winning the whole thing and here this schmuck just ruined their plans.

I have always made the first move in thanking them for the game and what a pleasure it was to play them. They were always nice about it. It is in fact uncomfortable when you win against players like that, I am sure the crowd didn't want to see me win. You can't be cocky at all.

Or the "infamous" line after you win... "well, I gave you that one"...

Riiiight, cause you missed a thin cut, and somebody had to still run out the table without missing? If you gave it to me, why did you make me shoot the rest of the balls ?

I don't know if it happened either but at least if it did they were serious and played. Just trying to make some snappy come backs you can't back up is silly.

Just to be objective, the player lost. The OP won. The player can cry all he wants, but it's still a loss.

My Chicago Cubs could win every game if they played to 50 innings. However, I doubt a longer game would save Da Bears.

I love that one, "I gave it to you", "uh.... thanks, I'll take it, and the cash".
buh'bye now....

Your terminology is more correct. The OP won the match, he didn't beat anybody. The other player has not conceded anything and was more then happy to continue playing if the OP were willing to. It doesn't sound like he was very beat.
