Newest Fields Case off the bench, a nice classy 2x4 in dark brown leather with a red interior, brass band, and the usual bells and whistles.

Nice work Mr.Fields.I didn't know that you are still making them with the tubes.
Regards,Marc
Thanks! Im still waiting on my new interiors, and am burning through all the pipe I have. Im undecided as to if Ill keep the tubes as an option. Personally i prefer tubes, but in the talks Ive had with people and the research Ive done the padded cloth interior is preferred by a lot of folks. When I get mine in, I'm going to do a name the case contest, as those seem to go over pretty well on the forum.

Love it,!!!

What Im making are what i consider to be the traditional classic American style case.
Jay Flowers and Nora VanHorn started the tradition. The decorative stamping used on their cases goes back a long long time to saddle makers, holster makers, and leatherworkers in this country from Al Stohlman on. Tandy Leather helped to popularize this "style" on everything from wallets to belts etc. Nora was a Tandy employee and had the knowledge and talent to make the cases and continue the style onto this new medium.... cue cases.
Dennis Swift started making cases with his own spin on the design, adding his improvements and style to them.
Next up, was Jack Justis. Jack took from the Flowers cases, and added his spin on things. Making for a classier look than before. Adding decorative elements like fleur de lis, and heraldry, along with gold and silver colored accents.
My take is ever evolving, borrowing elements from those who have come before me. I feel that my biggest contributions thus far have been in the area of how the case is made. I beef up the attachment points for the handle, strap and lid, and spend a lot of time of details such as edge finishing, lining the lid. Using top quality leather and hardware.
My main goal is to keep the tradition alive and well and make cases that will be around for peoples grandkids and even great grandkids to see that part of their family history.
Its evolution while still paying homage to the past.
