Barton cannot aim

I love all the railbirds heckling John and CTE/Pro One. Which one of you guys is next in line to put up $10K of your own money and putting it all out there on Streaming? Which one of you guys were praising CTE/Pro One when Landon Shuffett crushed Earl Strickland at Tunica a couple of years ago using CTE/Pro One exclusively as his aiming system?

John's misses didn't appear to be the result of aiming but stroke related. However, say what you will but Lou is no dog. He's a 100+ straight pool player and played in a number of pro events. Despite all that, John was a hand full of misses away from having already won this match. I've never seen such a bunch of keyboard heroes in my life. If you guys want to diss CTE/Pro One, which one of you wants to step forward with your own money and play Stevie Moore, Landon Shuffett or Stan Shuffett?

I'm not really dissing -- just stating what I saw.

Both of these guys put this out there for us to watch. They used this forum to promote the match (especially JB). Putting forth my critique of either of them seems reasonable when you consider they volunteered for this.

Stan, I love ya. And I know you recently gave John some lessons, and I know how that feels to have a student watched closely. What John is doing is a result of NOT studiously applying those lessons. Sure, it takes time to ingrain new habits, but for that kind of money, one would think you would make sure that you carefully apply everything you know. He isn't doing that. He reverted back to his old ways way too often.

Honestly, his stroke is just awful on a lot of shots. Stick and whole body flying all over the place. I know most won't, but I actually look at it as a good testament to pro 1 that he made some of the shots that he did, despite his poor stroking! I feel that using CTE on the banks is the only thing that even kept John in the game. He made a bunch of good banks.

Quite frankly, Lou really surprised me. For a person with his qualifications, he missed some very routine shots that never should have been missed. (CTE would really benefit him, despite his thoughts on it) And, he made some really bone-headed moves that cost him every game he lost. ??? (edit: some of them were so bad that if he wasn't winning anyways, it would be hard to argue that he wasn't dumping!) Maybe he was just worn out and couldn't think straight anymore.??? He had the chance to blow JB out of the water, and kept giving it back to him, now it's close. Not close enough, but way closer than it should have been.

John took the best of what he had to the table last night with the goal of WINNING. Nothing else. Essentially he was 1 shot away from 7-7. And the match is not over!
I hope his goal remains the same as last night: WIN.

You're 100% correct. It is more than fair to critic both players since they've laid it out there inviting it. What isn't fair, or reasonable in the least, is to critique CTE/Pro One because of John's performance. To be blunt, I don't think John really had much of a clue about CTE/Pro One in the past. Just speculation on my part but from looking at a few of his videos, he had some serious misconceptions. The time he spent with Stan was less than a month or so ago and given John's schedule, that isn't even close to enough time to have become proficient with the system. Not making excuses as no excuses are needed, just stating facts. Obviously, all you guys are smart enough to acknowledge John's primary problem with missed shots were stroke related. I am surprised he made the shots he did with all the jumping around and steering.

Despite all that, John is a few shots away from having won this match. It appeared to me that John actually understood the strategy and had better CB control than Lou did. If John had just had a little more patience and understood the concept of pocket speed, this match is over and John would have $10K in his pocket. Since pool isn't played in real life by "what if", Lou's one game away from winning. However, it's not over. I'll give John some credit. He tries to win each game, Lou seems to try to avoid losing each game.

People who bash systems without giving them a go are either lazy or just trolling - nothing else. If it were nonsense like Lou has referred to it then maybe the bashing is warranted - but it is real and it works and the bashers don't have a leg to stand on.

You must be referring to Snooker - to be fair it isn't played as much in other places? I guess Australia - isn't an Australian the current World #1? Lets be honest, the UK hosts the most players which is fine but it is one game. I was/am a huge fan of Jimmy White - he and others didn't do much when they switched to the 9 foot table. The games are very different. I would love to see you play - perhaps you can and then again perhaps you cannot - but you refuse to show us.

SEE system and Darren Appleton - are they North American? SVB admits to using his own system too and he can play a little.

If you ever visit our great country, please come by my area, I'll gladly test your pool skills with some $100 sets. No streaming, no big advance woofing, we'll just meet up and play. Gerry, the quote feature is not difficult to use, and makes it easier to see what you're saying. All you really need do is copy and paste the text which includes the posters username at the top of the sentence you want to quote, and CnP the bracketed QUOTE at the end of it. Use the preview function to make sure you have them in the right places. It's tricky at first but you'll get the hang of it.

I can assure you Appleton doesn't give a toss about aiming. He does SEE for the money. Do you think David Beckham really walks around in Adidas clothing all day and put Brillcream in his hair?

All Brits grow up firing small balls at small holes, so aiming is not a factor to worry about. Being able to put it where you are aiming is all, and that requires straight cueing. Concentrate on that and you'll improve, no matter who you are.

And snooker players don't demean themselves by playing 9 ball. I know the game is not easy but they see it as beneath them, which is why the only time they'll play it is for exhibition style cash cows like the MC. I doubt players like White and O'Sullivan played more than 2 days 9 ball before each MC - why would they?

DARREN APPLETON says at about. (29:22) that he believes the Philipinos are using the PRO ONE system. Darren has EXPERIENCED the accuracy of Pro One.
He has had some Pro 1 training and he is NOT just making that up.
There is a lot about Pro1 that has not emerged yet.
Phil Burford uses CTE.......

My point about Snooker is exactly what you have said about 9 ball. Noone over here plays it - the cost to travel etc too big to fade. The advantages are the payouts are much better and it is more professionally run/organized.

Neil, I agree with you. He can't stroke the cue ball. And this is the result of "false perception" and alignment. Stan said it. It is visual. First thing John has to do is learn how to perceive the visuals. He missed a thin cut which was 1/8 inside (maybe outside) and he almost hit it as a half ball hit. And he made this weird movement with his stroking arm. This has to do with perception.

Agreed, and with what you said in the other post. Barton is systemic failure as a pool player.

It's one hell of a challenge to rebuild him.
