Funny pic/gif thread...

I watched a lot of I Love Lucy, when I was growing up. Remember the year they filmed it in color and showed it in black and white. And then showed the re-runs in color.

Desi Arnaz had a horse ranch down the road from us. Never saw him around.

Favorite episode is the working in the chocolate factory one.

She was a talented lady, a song and dance starlet up and comer in the studios. not sure what took her the comedy route..she was a natural.

Amazing how the domestic turmoil didn't come through on the show.

I remember that one. The conveyer belt got moving too fast and Lucy started shoving chocolates in her mouth to make up for it.

I don't know how many channels you guys got but we got 2.

Lucy. Ed Sullivan. I always got disappointed when Topo wasn't on at the end of the show.

OK, how many other old classics can you guys come up with.

I remember, Paladin. Have Gun, Will Travel. Of course Roy Rogers. I got a Paladin 6 shooter and holster for Christmas one year.

My favorite shows where Roy Rogers and the Lone Ranger. Then I think there was a show called Rex The Wonder Dog. And of course Lassie. All way before Paladin.

Did you guys get the, Littlest Hobo?

Remember Gene Autrey?

Funny, altho I remember the name Rex, The Wonder Dog, I can't remember seeing the show. Maybe not in Canada.

We used to get shows that I am sure that you never seen. Like, Don Messer and the Islanders. They were from the East Coast of Canada.

Kind of a variety show. Hey, Tommy Hunter? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtXvznfMWAw

Anne Murray got her start on Don Messer.

Tarzan.

Blue Hog..

Tarzan...w Johnny Wiesmuller?

I think there was something similar...Rama..King of the jungle..I think a kid riding around on an elephant righting wrongs in the jungle.

Froggy...plunk your magic twanger. Was this an earlier play on Soupy Sales' 'banana cream'...pie bit.

Rocketman..and his evil adversary.

Palladin was ugly but smooth. Richard Boone..shakespearean actor I think. Forget the movie, where as a bad guy, he tells the good guy that 'he has some tough bark on him..Steve McQueen?

Sky King, with Penny and the twin engine Songbird.

...all this reminds me of my roll in the home before tv remote controls when Dad watched TV.

I would kneel in front of the TV set so Dad could see the screen, and the 'surfing' would begin..'See whats on channel 2,,channel 13, channel 7, channel 11. I would dutifully spin the knob, and wait for the next 'request'. This of course was after the 'You kids been watching what you want all afternoon..now I'm goinna watch what I want!' speech.

My only small measure of rebellion was to spin the channel selector knob fast, the long way, past all the UHF channels on the way..backwards going from 2 to 13.

Only then would Dad get off the couch, to whack me up side the head for 'trying to wear out the knob' on the TV.

This was long before the onset of the PC concept of Child Protective Services...hey we didn't know, and if we did, we knew better than to call.

This was in the time when having kids was to have indentured servants to do chores around the house, pull weeds in the garden, iron clothes, mow lawns, etc...heck the best job was being the TV remote.:D

Good memories...but I still don't hear well in that ear:(

ps:that might be Clint when on Rawhide, before Clint got big. Rowdy Yates?

I thought I was the only one in the world who knew about the littlest Hobo, everytime I mention it to people they look at me like I'm crazy. In 1997 before I bought a Belgian Sheperd I somehow tracked down the owner and trainer of the 5 dogs who played in the episodes. He lived in Oregon and we talked many hours on the ph. He sent me books he wrote and pictures of the dogs. Thanks for letting me know I'm not crazy.Excuse me now I have to go watch my reruns of Circus Boy.

The movie was "Hombre" with Paul Newman
Boone goes to the top of a grade to a mining shack and tells Newman what all he's going to do to the people there. Newman says "I've got one question, how're you gonna get back down that hill"
Newman shoots a lot of them and as he's dying "frank Silvera (one of the shot outlaws) say "mister you've got a lotta hard bark on you."

I saw Boone standing in front of the Rice Hotel in Houston. He was a big ugly man 6ft 2 or 3 poc marked face, he looked a lot like George Blanda..
Rod.
P.S. As you can tell, one of my favorite movies.

How about Man With A Camera - Charles Bronson
I Remember Mama
Lights Out

I remember seeing an ad on the back of a comic book "Coming Soon - The Adventures of Superman".

Good stuff.

Black Beauty

I vaguely recall Circus Boy.

Elephant Boy. He was a young East Indian Boy that rode an elephant. His name was Ji.

It was a cartoon but still fun. Johnny Quest.

Flipper. After watching that one, who didn't want to have a Dolphin for a pet. My own Mother had to reason with me as to why it was not feasible for a boy from the flat lands to have one. I tried. I figured it was as easy as making a swimming pool in the back yard. My parents refused to move to Fla also.

The best friend of Johhny Quest was Haji, an Indian kid.

We had the three network channels on 2 (ABC), 5 (NBC) and 7 (CBS), and later a public access/educational channel, 11.

Remember The Little Rascals? Tom & Jerry. The Rifleman. Make Room for Daddy. Leave it to Beaver. Captain Kangaroo.

But the Most Memorable: Annette Funicello (sp?) on the Mickey Mouse show? Love those sweaters!
