Chapter 5, Not Giving up on the Road

Look on the bright side: No problems with the IRS. :grin-square:

Might have an ObamaCare problem when (if) the individual mandate ever kicks in, though.

If you're planning on writing a book, as indicated, I don't think people would be interested in reading $1 a rack stories. Or how you beat an unknown low A player for $90. Hell, we just saw two forum members settle an arguement for 20K. Over AIMING.

Sounds like she needs to start arguments on az.

I was joking at first, but when you look into it there is actually NO possible way for anyone below pro level to even break even, staying in a motel/hotel, at least not if you don't make your own food.

Mr. Albrecht had it right! You need a camper and something besides hustling to keep alive. Lets say motel cost 100 dollars with tax and you eat and drink for 15 dollars a day. Table time hourly rate for one person is 6 dollars, up to 8 for two people. Lets use the 6 dollars that you need to even stay in the room and 12 hour working days. 187 dollars down.

Medical insurance under Obamacare averages 274 dollars a month, thats 9 extra dollars a day(plus Rhea has had some "elective" surgery that probably ups the price a bit, maybe not even covered if something goes wrong with that, in which case you need to save up for that possibility) Lets be generous and round expenses up to 200 with medical. Clothes, shoes, toothbrushes etc. you kinda need those too. Lets make it 10 dollars a day for those. Now you are down 210. Dental and other miscellaneous expenses, add 10 a day for that, now we are 220 dollars down. Thats pressure, right there.

So in order to have any sort of savings at all (about 11k a year) you need to win 250 dollars pr. day, on average. I M P O S S I B L E. If you cut the hotel expenses in half for a camper, you still have to make 200 dollars a day. Not an easy task in a bad economy and declining pool hall attendance. What about breaking absolutely even? 220 and 170 dollars, not exactly easy and absolutely no safety net, what so ever.

I started off spotting Blake the seven ball for $1 per rack and he quit after about an hour 2 racks loser.
I hope you're not referring to me. -Blake
That was my first thought as well.
Slomo - I assume from your response that it wasnt you playing Rhea. Are there any other Blakes at Skinnys?
lol. No, it wasn't me. I haven't met any other "Blake" at Skinny Bob's in my time there. But, if Rhea wants to spot me the 7, I'll take it. :)

I did not play Slomo, the Blake I spotted the seven ball to is only a C player.

I cannot be a Truck driver, I have a tendancy to fall asleep at the wheel nearly everytime I drive great lengths of time regardless how much sleep ive had. I often wake up in a different lane and am lucky im alive so i try to avoid driving whenever possible.

I cannot obtain a loan of any kind for any reason, I am upside down in debt nearly 10 thousand dollars, and i have 3 current reposessions. I also do not have an honerable discharge from the armed forces because in 2002 I went Awol, and therefore forfeited all benefits of serving in the millitary.
