First and foremost - NO. This is not a belated April Fool's Joke.
Story (and I'm sticking to it) - My better half and I are talking last night, and she tells me that a good friend/coworker of hers was helping her parents clean out the house of her grandparents, prior to putting it up on the market.
During the overhaul, they emptied the contents of a small attic. In those contents was some kind of cue case (no info on what kind of case, yet). Inside this case is a cue (no info on what kind of cue, yet). Turns out - the grandpa, who is now deceased, fancied himself as some kind of pool player, after the end of WWII. Grandma says that he spent a ton of time playing the game, and continued to play until somewhere around the mid-to-late 80's or early 90's (she wasn't exactly sure).
This cue and case almost made it into the dumpster pile, until my wife's friend remembered that I like to play a little pool, myself. She set the set aside, so my wife could ask me if I wanted it. Of course, I said I did.
This could turn out to be absolutely nothing of monetary value...but the story, alone, is cool. The cue COULD be a worthless pile of firewood. It COULD be a simple bang-around hitter. It COULD be something pretty cool...or it COULD be something great. Only time will tell.
Having no information about the items in question, I'm reserving this spot for updates. I'm hoping to have the cue/case in my hands by next week, sometime (earlier would be more better awesomer...but I have no say in that, right now).
Stand by and tune in. I may be setting myself (and all of you) up for major disappointment...but keep your fingers crossed that there may be something pretty sweet on the near-ish horizon!!!
More to come.
