I heard something unbelievable on a tar podcast

I've seen Busty run more than 7 racks while gambling in the philippines...

Not sure how many but at least 9...maybe 10...

I can't think of any reason why he shouldn't speak the truth though...

Could it be that he's, like, the best sandbagger ever?

Most likely, he just does not keep count. The money is the score keeper and the teacher.;)

well its kind of like fish stories, everyone has caught a bigger one. I think it should be like running 300 in straight pool unofficially.unless its done in a tournament with lots of credible witnesses i am not inclined to believe it. I do remember watching George Breedlove break and run 6 racks in a row on the TV table at the Derby against Larry Nevels, and its on Accustats tp prove it. Its not hard for me to believe any pro can be in double digits, hell i am a "b" player and have had several 5 packs over 25 years, once with a house cue. I probably have had more, but just wasnt counting at the time. The thing is our memory always embellishes thr truth a bit...lol. Funny story my buddy always tells about a friend of ours saying he saw a guy at one of our biggest tournaments run several racks together, then my buddy reminds him that the tournament was a loser breaks tournament,we still get a laugh out of that one from years ago..lol.. An Official run of even a hundred is pretty impressive. I watched a guy at the Derby this year miss with like 94 or something and the top run was only a couple balls more, heart breaking to watch, but impressive yet...i am proud to say my high run is 45...lol...and i have only played a half dozen times

Remember in some place (country's) they tap the rack. The balls settle into the same spot. Even better than the magic rack that requires you to place it in the same spot. Like having a magic rack glued down. Now you figure the table and BOOM your Cory Duel.

Archer ran 13 when he played django, niels ran 15 in practice, no doubt django ran more than just 7.....corteza told me same thing when i asked him for his high run in 9 and 10 ball....he said 7 both times....dont believe those guys lol...

I was watching the tar podcast with Johnny and Francisco last night and of course they are talking about Johnny running 15 racks on him gambling. Here is the kicker, they ask Francisco what his high run is and he says 7!!!! Wow this is unbelievable to me. He has possibly the biggest break in 9 ball history and nobody would gamble him even, sans Johnny. Then you hear stories of other great players like Neils running 16. Am I the only one surprised by this? Also if you know these top players high rack runs please share. I also heard Shane say his in 9 ball was 6, but in the same podcast he says he's run 13 racks of 10 ball on a regulation diamond!!

I think Efren ran 11 on Busty a while back in Europe it is on YouTube I think

I am inclined to agree.

I was playing parica in nc once and asked him what his biggest run was and he said 4...days.

Busty's dry humor

Posters are forgetting that Busty is a pretty funny guy when he doesn't have a cue in his hand. I think his claim of 7 was a joke.

I'll bet all 22 of my cues that he's run more than that MANY times in competition...

Maybe someone here can confirm this. I heard that after johnny ran all those racks, Francisco wanted to double the bet and ja said no.
Anyone else hear this story?

I was at that tournament when it happened, and as luck would have it that was the one night that we didn't stay up to sweat the after hours action...

Johnny ran 13, Francisco upped the bet to play another set, and Johnny ran the first 2 of the second set to equal the 15 racks people speak of. Francisco won the second set.... :)

As far as multiple racks go, it has more to do with break production than actual shooting, position play skill, decision making, etc. They can all do that to a decent degree, but even the best breakers with the best conditions - having the corner ball wired, 1 ball in the side, etc. - will occasionally get a bad result and have no opening shot. I've seen multiple pros run 6, 7, 8 racks on video - Efren, Danny Medina, SVB, etc. - and many more substantiated accounts such as Archer's run. I would be skeptical of any other numbers, low or high, ulterior motives abound for both...

BTW, I asked Thorsten about his high run in 8-ball, if I remember correctly it was something astronomical like in the mid 20's. <gulp>

And we all know that th majority of pro match ups are in tournaments, a medium which punishes one for taking risk.

If you wanna win a tournament, you can't go for the runout everytime.

Exactly. A point that was seemingly overlooked by whoever underwrote the million dollar challenge that Earl won.

I remember at the Derby City 9-ball players meeting 5 or 6 years ago, it was mentioned that nobody had ever ran out the set (7) in that tourney. They mentioned it because there is a rule that if someone does it, then their opp gets one opportunity to match the feat, and the rule had not been used in the first 9 or 10 years of the DCC. If they had offered $5k prize for running out the set, somebody probably would have snapped it off the first or second year.

Is there some record for 9's off the break (without magic rack)? I've done that 3 times in a row. I've done it twice in a row a few times.

Yeah, other players have run bigger packages than Busty. It won't matter though because when there is money on the line Busty will beat them just the same.

I watched Busty run more than 7 in the Fatboy challenge (maybe 2 years ago at the Derby)....but, that was 10 ball

Me thinks he was pulling everyone's leg

Just wanted to add...

1) Johnny's break was nothing to sneeze at in his prime, either. There are plenty of videos of him absolutely crushing it, and squatting the rock center table

2) Efren ran 8 or 9 against Busty in the referenced WPC match. Not 11 as mentioned. It's quite a nice run out, too, with a couple highly difficult shots to boot.

3) Did Busty really run more than 7 racks of 10 ball in the Fatboy Challenge? Any evidence of that anywhere?
