I regret not putting Ronnie Allen in, that was a mistake, but If I were to put a name to one pocket, his would be the only one.

my choice is Clark McConachy, not just because he was from NZ, but for many years was in the top 5 players in the world for a very long period of time.

Parica was the best player on this list imo, EXCEPT Taylor In Banks and Efren in One Pocket. Wimpy and Shane are second best at 9-Ball, along with Buddy and Francisco. Ronnie is the equal of Efren at One Pocket. Wimpy is the best at 14.1 with Balsis a close second. Many other great players on this list, but these are the ones I put on top. Shane is probably the equal of Jose at Ten Ball, playing alternate break. On a bar table, I like Keith, Buddy and Shane about equally.

Thanks Jay, it was good to hear your thoughts on this.

No Matlock?

I should have put eddie felson and minnesota fats and vivent lauria, to mess with you all:smile:

Time was not kind to Balsis. I once had internet access to a list of the world 14.1 champions through Mosconi's era and all the way up to the 70's or so and Balsis had a HUGE chunk of time where he was either the champion or runner up on that list each and every year. He was for a fairly long while the most dominant player in the world at straight pool.

He was likely overshadowed due to the sheer magnitude and legend of his predecessor that came before him. You don't want to follow an act like Mosconi... But... Balsis was more of a champion more then most of the people on this list.

I voted based on a few players in the past ten years and players of the past 30 years.

Players that actually made an impact.

You don't even have Harold Worst on the list ? I always mix up the guys name
who Lassiter didn't want any part of, if Worst was a 3 chushion player then I did it again.

Even Luther Lassiter didn't want to play him.
