Hey everybody - how's everything going?

My friend from the BCA told me about this nifty little forum so I up and joined.

I was in a match Monday and the following came up, I'm just curious to know what you guys would've done here:

I'm shooting solids here, the 6 would not pass the 8 to the far corner, but I did make the 6, and had a good shot on the 8.

Can anybody figure out what I did or tell me what they would've personally done.

Also - if it helps, I'd rank the guy I was playing as a solid B, or B+ player so I didn't think I had a reasonable safe.

Stop shot on the 6 snuggle the cue ball on the 8 and leave the 6 near the corner pocket for a easy out when your opponents head explodes.

no reasonable safe? hmmmmph, ok

btw, I woulda banked it too...hell, it's just league

The cross corner bank looks like it'll go, but it's an easy sell out if you miss. Nudge the right side of the 6 and leave the cb between the 6 and the rail as a safety shot.

very simple, and exactly how I'd play it for money...
really couldn't believe he said there was no safety available.

THIS. id be afraid of going off the rail and off the 8 Ive made the 8 multiple times doing stuff like this

WELCOME BTW

I like the bank into the side and trying to keep the cue ball behind the 8ball so it can be shot into the bottom right corner

Welcome.

1) "Thin to Win" off the six leaving the 8 hooked by the 6.

2) Stop shot the 6, freezing whitey against the 8. If it is a "Dead Bank" to the corner, make sure you don't make it.

I'd split a bank on the 8 to the end rail first diamond. The six should block the route to the bank back or chinese hook him. Your opponent will cry foul of course but since there's no ref it would be in the favor of the shooter. Be prepared though situations like these often end in fisticuffs so keep a roll of quarters handy in you pocket.

Two way shot, Bank the 6 cross corner at pocket speed. Leave it close to the jaw. While placing the CB close to the right foot corner.

CB placement on the rail by the corner is the key.

Let the opponent try to cross side that with the 6 being your duck, quacking away.

Welcome to the forums. What I would do is simply bank the 6 towards the upper far corner, leaving it near the pocket towards the long rail, not the short rail, and leave the cb sitting on the 8. All he then has is trying to kick in the 8. He misses the make, you have a routine shot to play.

I'd have banked it pocket speed and a tad long to the opposite corner and stuck the guy right up against the 8 in the hopes that I'm frozen to it. If not frozen I want to be on the short side of the 8 so any safe he tries will move the cue ball toward my six up near the top rail.
