what does your AZB username mean...?

SSBN610 is my old submarine (USS Thomas A. Edison) that I spend over a year of life underwater on. The g I put on the end stands for gold crew as opposed to the blue crew. There were two crews for each Boomer!!

Al

Spent 9 patrols, a DASO and a mini-DASO on SSBN 623 Nathan Hale Gold crew. We were one of the few, if not the only crew to launch all 16 missiles. Another time we launched 4.

My username, 'Nullus', is short from an online gaming name I use....Nullus Nomen, which translates to 'Man with No Name'.

Rain-Man = Raymond (say it fast)

Been called Rain-Man since my early high school days (seems so frickin long ago....)

My last 3 months in the Navy they transferred me to Charleston from Instructor duty at Dam Neck Va because they needed experienced FTB's on the Sam Houston to make a missile shot down at the Cape Canerval range. One was fun, 16 must have been a blast. Nice to hear there are other bubbleheads on here.

Good thread OP and thank you for your service in the Military. Thanks also to
the other veterans who've posted.

When I 1st registered, I tried to sellect a couple of user ID's and it rejected them
and stated that they were taken. I don't really remember what they actually were.
I thought for a minute and come up with Badbeat13. I was playing quite a bit of
Texas Hold'em at work at the time(those days are gone). It seemed that I'd have
the best hand going into the river card 90% of the time, but was only winning
about half of those hands. I just thought of the poker term, 'bad beat'.

I like to put numbers in the front or at the end of user ID's or passwords and 13
is an unlucky number to most, so it just seamed fitting to me to put it right along
side of bad beat. 13 is actually my favorite number though. I've been a Dolphin
fan since 1981 and when they drafted Dan Marino(#13) in 1983, he became my
favorite player and 13 became my favorite number.

Nice thread and I hope more people post, it's an interesting read.

Thank you to all who have mentioned appreciation to our military members. I would also like to thank them myself, and say that we have all been places and done things that no one will ever understand.

Thank you my brothers in arms!

This has been extremely insightful, and there were many assumptions I had mad about particular members and their names... most of which all proved to be inaccurate!

thanks to all that have contributed, and let's see who else out there would like to share

Dang.....more bubbleheads floating up to the surface than turds in a bowl. We launched a "fail" that made national news :(

Oh! A friggin FTB to boot? I used to call the FTB's every 15 minutes just to let them know the 16 babies were nice and snuggly in their cribs :D

When I was young, I thought being a pirate must be cool, and Kidd was a good pirate name. My first name starts with an J, so I used JayKidd as my handle on FidoNet. Cracking copy protection on computer games was fun, you kinda need a cool name to brag about on the net.
