Okay to me the first two are gimme's...Shane Van Boening and Cory Deuel.
The third would have to be Justin Bergman but the water starts getting murky after that.

You have Oscar Dominguez, Sky Woodward, Brandon Shuff, Earl Strickland, Chip Compton, Joey Gray, Mike Dechaine, Johnny Archer, Alex Olinger, Tommy Kennedy, Shaun Wilke, Robb Seaz, Rodney Morris, Shannon Daulton, Jeremy Sossi, Scott Frost, and Shannon Murphy as a few to choose from. Feel free to add other names. What say you AZ?

Wasn't there a huge thread with a poll on this?

Anyways, my picks are:

SVB
Corey Deuel
Justin Hall
Justin Bergman

and my fifth pick would be between Earl, MD, or Rodney Morris.

I haven't tipped my hand yet on what my five would be but I will say are you peeking at my cards Satori? Come on...what's your five?

Is this an attempt to get John Schmidt to start posting again?

No, but he is a very strong player that I thought someone would add to the list. I had no idea John has been talking about the Mosconi Cup. That means he must be training for the opportunity to represent!

Shane, Corey and I think it gets murky at that point. I will say I'm glad to see Alex Olinger mentioned in the OP. I think he deserves consideration. Not sure if he's ready for it yet, but he should be considered for sure. I think youth brings fearlessness among other things, despite the lack of experience. One thing I'm excited about is Mark being captain. I personally don't think they could have picked a better one.

You didn't specify the parameters.....so.....

1) 1993 Efren

2) Wimpy (Only if he was super cranky at something or someone)

3) Super drunk Keith (I am talking about his !@#$ the room I'm the best drunk phase)

4) "St. Louie" Louie

5) Early years Johnny Archer

-Now you got yourself a Mosconi Team! :)

If I were solely picking based on who I thought the best 5 US players were without chemistry or character coming into play I would pick:

SVB
Dechaine
Archer
Strickland
Bergman

If I were choosing based on chemistry and character I would pick:
SVB
Deuel or Archer
Dominguez
Shuff
Sossei

I am amazed that anybody showing an interest in a subject should not have read up a bit about it before posting threads about it.
Fourteen of that list will not play as the five selected will come from
Brandon Shuff, Corey Deuel. Jeremy Sossei, John Schmidt, Justin Bergman, Justin Hall, Oscar Dominguez and Shane van Boening.

Since we already know it's going to be 5 of the 8 Mark Wilson has already chosen, I'll leave it to Mark Wilson. I'll be happy with who he picks.

I Like your lists other than Berg in the top 5 of us I think Dominguez is the better player right now... I think your second list is just about perfect Berg and Sossei real close to me

That's right, Pro. Many can't even write well, how are we going to expect them to READ? (previous posts)
Just my own comments on some of the names presented.

A well-behaved Earl? When has THAT ever happened. When he was winning? During an interview?
The only "well-behaved" Earl you are going to see is probably when he is too old to act like a fool.

As for Schmidt, nice guy? Sure. Good for the Mosconi Cup? No way; not enough heart.
He has "give up" in him.

Johnny Archer? You bet. He wants to win and he is a good teammate. Just keep the family away.

Oscar? Playing well is helpful, but it's not ALL about that.
It's about cohesion, desire, and an ability to sacrifice for the team. Oscar has that.

My pics:

SVB
Johnny
Corey
Oscar
Bergman

A young enough team with experience, professionalism, and heart. Period.

Only because they want to add in a few young guns but the way both are playing it is cool anyway. Archer and Corey would both benefit the young guys in their own way and Shane would just be Shane which is never a bad thing... if he's on your team.

Obviously I was unaware there was a pool of players Mark was choosing from. Leaving it up to Mark to choose sounds good to me. Was the pool this small to begin with? All this thread asks is what AZ members would want for the five chosen players

It amazes me how you want to be a Donkey about someone wanting to talk about who they would choose anyway.

That is a strong five there!

Dude...I haven't seen previous posts. I just jumped right in after Corey was talking about what he's going to be doing in the future.

Good five though burro!
