I love the best hitting cue thread below, so I ask myself why do we keep buying and changing cues if we find one we love. I remember reading about ronnie osullivan using a 40 pound( as in english currency) cue for 20 years or something, but pool cues have a different life span so to say. so, whats the cue you used longest, mine was maybe 2 years, and have wasted thousands since. you? and if you have a pic of it, even better.

I have a 1973 Joss cue that was the only cue I owned from 1973 to 1991. Played with it and broke with it for over 25yrs. I paided $240 with 2 shafts ( ivory joint and ivory ferrels ). I switched to a lighter cue made by Bob Frey in the late 90's. I recently had Bob refinish the Joss and am now using it for 1 pocket.

I played with a Scruggs for over 16 years. I then tried a Lambros for a short period & then switched to a Bob Frey 60" that I've been playing with ever since, almost 14 years.

that's awesome, would love a pic of it.

I played with my Adam cue from 1984 to 2004. Paid $100 for it, kept it in he trunk of one car or another for the entire time. It was a 57" full splice rosewood cue, one of the best players I've ever had. It has a pretty respectable warp now and it sits out in the garage with my spares. I was perfectly happy with that cue for the entire time I used it.

The Adam is the lower cue, with the wrap removed. My JW is shown which I've had nearly 10 years now and have about a shaft to show for each year.

7 years so far, don't see it changing anytime too soon, but i do have another coming from the same maker. does that count?

Had mike webb make me a custom 60in purple heart and ebony on tiger maple 6 pointer @ 98 or 99. So that is 15 or 16 years never thought of buying anything else. Cue hit great!

I've been playing with the same Schon cue since 1986. I've had other cues over the years but the Schon has been my main player.

I retired my old Mizerak cue this winter because the shaft was warped. I've had it since I was 18 or so. I'm 40 now. 21+ years with it. I know everyone here thinks they need a new one every year (like my mother and her cadillacs), but when I get comfy with a cue, I stick with it. I replaced my Miz cue with a Brunswick 50th Anniversary GC5. My wife gave it to me for xmas. I love it. Before I had the Miz cue, I played with house cues.

C-11 McD since 1981 8 shafts 3 linen rewraps.

Tryed prob 20 others collectable to "cheap" production.Still its
The ol c-model

Maybe 4 years max with a customized Viking G31.
Then a Schmelke sneaky for 2-2.5 years.

I bought my Schon STL13 in 1991 for around $745 (when it was known by a different model number). Been playing with it ever since. Incredible balance, one of the best hitting cues I've played with over the years and it's why I still use it. Had it refinished once (1 1/2 years ago). Will be gifting it to my daughter, who recently took up the game, as soon as my new Steve Lomax player is ready next week.

a frank paradice and a balabuska from the mid 1960's. so 50 years. so top that.

Since I still have my first cue...a very early Meucci with no name engraved, so that would be 43 years, for the longest I've owned a cue. What's easier to remember, though, is the SHORTEST time I ever owned a cue...less than a week. It was my first custom cue...a Joss West, that I'd waited 6 months for. It was delivered to me by Bill Stroud at my first pro tournament in Burlington Iowa, and I hadn't missed a ball with, in three days (I was hittin' em pretty good!). I also got lucky and won $1800 from Keith with it. Sadly, it disappeared with the guy that I caught a ride with (I had hitchhiked from CO to IA, and back) and had ridden with all night going back to CO. He ditched me at a truckstop and stole my stuff. Never saw it again...

I've been playing with my '65 gina since 1971

I think of having what you see in my avatar attached to my grave stone!

I don't know if you've ever run into Billy Pence. He was my buddy from teenage years and introduced me to the Ginacue. Mine was stolen but I ran into Billy and he still plays with his (from the 1960's also).

How were you playing Keith? $1800 is a score, especially then!

I'm sorry but I don't think I ever met him and I feel very lucky that I didn't lose mine in one way or another.

I've played off and on over the years so it spent a lot of time in my closet and that narrowed the possibility of anything bad happening to it.

I'm also sorry to say that I feel I have to be more careful with it now than ever, although I recently started playing again at a room near Burbank and several of the players I met never heard of a Ginacue. That, the fact that it's a plain jane and that I can't run three balls lessens it's value in that room!

Chris...Last 3 and the snap, for $300 a rack. He was 17. I got lucky and snapped off a 6 pack in less than 15 minutes, and he quit. He didn't care...he had a giant BR that had to be 20g's (he'd beaten everybody in the green room at the hotel)...and no I have no interest in that same game from Keith now! LOL I know when I made a once-in-a-lifetime score!
