Pro level players entered in Bca open events

I see two pro level players on the same open team and in open singles who are going to rob the open divisions this year at nationals. It seems weird, because as far as I can tell they are definitely regionally known monsters.
Can you spot them?

I found them, it's so out of line there is no way they will let them play in any Open divisions.
One of them was even born a Master ;)

But seriously Ozzy knows them both well, they must have slipped through the verification process somehow.

Both have cashed in the US open more than once and beat Mosconi cup players in big tournaments. They are minimum Masters or grand masters.

They are from Virginia, do I win something for spotting them first?

If we can or can't - can you please post the names to ensure we are all talking about the same players? Why the mystery?

@OP,
Have you tried contacting the organizers of the event with your concerns? I'm sure having an extra pair of eyes scrutinizing the entries wouldn't hurt, and maybe welcomed.

Danny Mastermaker and Chris Bruner, are the two I think the op was referring two, well they are the ones that stuck out to me.

And they also have Ron Parks on their open team.

It's like the US version of those Taiwan players that almost robbed the Open two years ago.

I would call CSI and talk to Ozzy or Mark. That would actually help whereas posting a cryptic thread on here doesn't really.

Are you talking about Danny Mastermaker? Why would he not be allowed in an Open division?

Why???, maybe because he finished 17th at the US Open and Turning Stone pro level tournaments last year. He lost 9-7 at turning stone to Alex Pagulayan it's on YouTube
Can Alex also play in the Open division in that case?

Other than the newly-formed Leisure division, the BCA's Open division is their lowest. After that, it goes Advanced, Master and Grandmaster.

It's a bingo!

He lost 9-7 to Alex so he can't play? And he placed 17th at the US Open?

You really come across as one of the bitter APA posters, but this is a BCA thread.

The problem with kicking the top 5 guys out of the event is that now the 6th best guy looks like he is stealing.

Where does it end?

The BCAPL has been bumping some people back into the open every year of late and at times it is deserved, other times those getting bumped back go to Vegas and rob the place. About 2 years ago two of the best bar box players from Calgary got dropped back into the open division, well sure enough they went down and entered it and they both ended up playing each other deep on the final board on the A-Side and then deeper yet on the B-Side. I think they chopped close to 5 digits up between them.

As good as some of the guys from the states are there are a few guys I see in this years open event from Canada they are going to be in tough against.

Plus, I am not sure how good Chris Gentile is at 8-ball but that guy got second place in the US Open 1-pocket against an absolutely stacked field.

I for one would not really be looking forward to playing him were I anyone on that list. He actually BEAT Alex into 3rd place, and Alex is a monster at 1-pocket.

At the end of the day I would just let them play, but the BCAPL set a pretty strong precedent when they took the winnings away from the two Taiwanese players AFTER they won the money. I think they need a pretty strong hand when it comes to keeping pro level players out if they don't want to look biased at this point.
