An apology

Hey man. Don't let the 'holier than thou' types get you down. I hate when someone is a big man and says: 'I made a mistake' and people pile on and say 'you made a mistake!'

Um... isn't that the point of what you were saying?

Anyway...I think you're great and I only posted what I did because a) it's the truth and b) to remind everyone that nothing happens in a vacuum.

That wasn't a response to you. I was typing it while you posted. None of the comments bother me, and it can be discussed as long as anyone wants to talk about it. I just don't want to be the one dragging the discussion out.

:)

There is one problem with this. 50 percent of fouls are barely noticeable from 10 feet away. For instance you double cued on the follow through.....you had a close hit and barely hit wrong ball first.....you had object ball or cue ball get very close to rail but didn't touch the rail....etc. Some fouls just can't be seen from a distance, and its up to you to realize not just what the rules are, but what is fair to your opponent and to yourself. Some people just have to grow up and act like an adult.

If you lie to someone, and they never find out, does that make it right? No. Its a lie. If you commit a foul and don't tell your opponent, you are a liar. Doesn't matter if you got away with it or not. Does that mean your opponent shouldn't pay attention? Of course not. But not everything can be seen from the chair.

If I am going to be ridiculed for being a stand up guy, then so be it. I can live with that!

Tap, tap, tap.

This is the correct answer.

I give back money to the cashier when I've gotten more than I deserve, too

Me too BUT i was never struggling and broke at the time so I dont think it says all that much for me. Hopefully i'll never find out what would happen if i was broke in that situation but I think it would be hard to hand Macy's back a ten when i didnt even have enough for my next sandwich.

In the leagues I play in and also, the league tourneys, you would probably be asked to leave the venue if you did call a foul on yourself (ok...a bit of a stretch but you would be ridiculed by your team if not chastised). This does not mean you should lie when your opponent calls a foul. If you fouled...honesty is a requirement in your reply.

.

No, the same aholes who would not call the foul, and only wait for the other team to call, most of the time they deny it, and without a ref, or calling someone over to watch the shot, the decision is up to the shooter..... bad form all the way around.

Only a bunch of fools and/or morons would chastise someone for calling a foul.

no worries, at least you are one of the few that know you did wrong, and made it right. How about those others that don't even think it was wrong. You are not in that same group, no need to worry.

Plus, you never had a chance in the tourney anyways ;)

Barring some unforeseen need to reply to any subsequent comments, this will be my last post here. I just wanted to be clear.

I posted for no reason other than to admit I'd done something wrong. Something which I am of the opinion should never be done in this game. I am truly embarrassed to have done it, but would be more embarrassed not to admit fault.

I would never, in anything, claim to have not made my share of mistakes. What I would claim, in everything, is my willingness to accept responsibility for them. That is all I wanted to do with this post.

I appreciate the comments. Think of me what you will.

You are doing the right thing. Why leave?

Non foul called karma

Playing in APA Masters tourney for entry to Vegas this weekend and our best guy was playing their best guy and they fouled and didn't say anything and my guy asked if it was a foul. He said nope and it clearly was. They were winning 2-1 at the time and lost 7-3. Cheating is bad Karma. He was never the same, he knew he cheated and thought he was getting unlucky from that point on (and kinda was) and getting all the bad rolls.

FYI, not intended at OP. Just related to where thread has gone. CONGRATS TO OP, everyone makes mistakes and if you can man up to it, no one could ask for anything more. People should learn from their mistakes and it's seems pretty clear to me that you have.

I think any criticism is this post is not directed at the OP but just people who think it's okay if you don't get caught. I give credit to the op...

A long time ago in China a boy named Ping (who was an avid gardener) was growing up in a happy little village, when one day, the Emperor announced that he was getting too old and needed to find a worthy successor.

The Emperor ordered all the children to assemble at his palace, where he issued a challenge to them: "I will give you all a handfull of flower seeds, and whoever grows them the best, will take my place as the new Emperor. Take these seeds and come back in the fall when you are done".

Of course all the children were very excited, and immediately went to work planting and watering their seeds, taking the utmost care to ensure they would succeed. Ping went to work as well, choosing just the right soil, just the right pot, and a perfect sunny location.

But days went by and nothing happened for Ping. He thought the soil was not right so he changed the dirt. Weeks went by and nothing happened. It must be too sunny he thought so he changed the location of the pot. Months went by and nothing happened. He watered it even more, but nothing ever appeared.

Ping was frustrated and sad. And the day had arrived for all the children to return to the palace with their flowers. With tears in his eyes, he carried his empty pot, and got in line with all the other kids, to take his turn showing the Emperor the results of their labors.

Ping couldnt believe his eyes; the other kids had flowers of amazing size and color. He wanted to crawl in a hole and die. How could face the Emperor with an empty pot?? Would he be laughed at? Banished? Beheaded? Imprisoned?

The Emperor looked carefully at every pot, and in a quiet but stern voice, demanded of his audience " who has dared to bring an empty pot before the Emperor? "

The crowd of children were dead silent and still as mice.

Ping slowly raised his hand, and tried to utter an apology.
"..um... the empty pot is mine. I'm sorry..."

The Emperor interrupted Ping " Come here now and face me"

Ping quaked in his shoes as he slowly walked up and stood before the powerful Emperor.

The Emperor raised his voice even louder, to address the whole crowd, and this time he was angry. " The seeds I gave to all of you had been cooked, and therefore were impossible to grow. Not only have you all tried to deceive me, but Ping was the only one with the honor to admit to the truth. Ping shall be Emperor."

You are correct sir :)

At least he understood it, and he knew it was wrong the second it happened, and then came forward. The others, never even thought for a second it was wrong, and there is no helping them :)

This ain't golf dude where the other guys is on the other side of the fairway lol Your opponent is standing at the table watching your every move. It's there job to call the foul not yours. I'll never deny it when you call it but I ain't calling it for you anymore then I'm gonna push a ball in for you if you miss lol it's your jobs to make your balls when your at the table and to watch for fouls when your not.

Okay, your are playing me and I see you foul but you continue to play. When I get to the table I start cheating my ass off. What are you going to do about it?

You call it on yourself in golf because your opponent could be 50 yards a way lol that's why exclusive to golf. Rearranging balls when someone walks away is not the same thing. If you play me and miss a foul I'll make you pay for it and not lose a moments sleep on it. The difference is I won't cry like a baby when I miss a foul and Lose because of it. I'll blame myself for not paying attention. We will have to agree to disagree on this one because arguing won't change either of our minds lol

Since the call normally goes to the shooter it is the responsibility of the shooter to call a foul when they commit one. Putting the responsibility on your opponent is unfair. When you foul pick up the cueball and hand it to them. Easy right? It is unless you want to cheat your opponent out of BIH which it sounds like it is something you do.

Okay, your are playing me and I see you foul but you continue to play. When I get to the table I start cheating my ass off. What are you going to do about it?

Then you are allowing someone else to determine your morals.

It is NOT okay to cheat a cheater....IMO
