This is about Shane

Shane has proven one of the best in world. The only thing i can think about the reason why he can't win outside the country is,people around him put too much pressure on Shane. He is just human. He can make mistakes but people in this forum treat him like Pool God and he is not allowed to lose.People may think I am wrong but I am sure there are some point Shane has this in his thoughts.Just my advice, stop threads about Shane winning/not winning tournaments.

(got tired of the BS with the titles)

Anyway, I see that the hopefuls are still hopeful. Well good, and you should be but "I" don't see Shane winning an oversea title EVER. Yea yea yea it could happen and good for him if it does but I don't think it will.
And to those of you who say "oh he'll get it next year, cause he's going to work hard, and blah blah blah" well guess what, so are all those other players.

There Europeans have done the most damage on that stage and will continue to do so, shane "as great as he is" is an american bully and for the most part in my book and for the most part just capable of beating up on the american boys.

"that's my take on it..... do (you know the rest)

You're "that guy", aren't you? The guy that has to bring the hate to the party? The guy that will never be anywhere near the caliber of the person/player you're referencing? The guy that can't stand the positives and hopefuls for an American player that's a tremendous ambassador of the game? It kills you, doesn't it? All his accolades, all his accomplishments? So, the very one that eludes him right now, you attack that one right? Makes you look like an expert of the game and that you'll set all of us straight? Like you've got a crystal ball into the future of pool? After all, we're just his groupies, right?

What it really makes you look like is a forum troll looking to bash someone that you're not even worthy of carrying a cue case for. But hey, you're entitled to your opinion.

That's my take on it.....

You think Shane is reading this forum? Why?

The end of your post is kind of ridiculous. None of the other winners recently live in Qatar and so they've traveled there with no assistants. Nor did their jet lag affect them any more or less than Shane. And Shane has been traveling for the past month, including china, just like all the other players. The traveling excuse is now dead.

Just want to point out that flying from somewhere like SD to Qatar is like 45,000 times further and longer than flying from ANYWHERE in Europe to Qatar. Europe to Qatar is like flying from NYC to Miami, at WORST.

lmfao, when will anybody in here shut the f@#$ up for a second and listen. It's not the travel, it's not the foreign soil, and it's not because he choked. The simple reason Shane hasn't won one of the handful of these he's played in is because of the variance in these goddamn tourneys. Once again, if you don't know what "variance" means then please google it. I know this is a pool forum so the IQ level is gonna be subpar to begin with, but even the most special of people can comprehend this.

When you have a short race with alternating break, the variance is ridiculously high when you get 64 of the best players in the world together. The best player isn't going to win the majority of the time. You could have a guy play pretty shitty for 4 matches and get lucky in his draw or play players that are playing worse or breaking bad and skate through to the semis and then play good for 2 matches and win....ie Daryl Peach.

It amazes me that a collection of people competent enough to surf the web can't understand this. The format equalizes the competition, and that's fine, it's good for viewing. But it doesn't determine who the best player is. It only gives someone a title for being a bit better over a few days in short session pool.

Hooray, you won $15K and won a short race tourney, lol. Meanwhile, you can't beat Shane with the f@#$ing 8-ball and he's taking down quadruple the money you are.

Not that any of it matters but Shane and many of the others came from China this time.

That's why american players fell behind the world, losing to much time to go around hustling, giving weights to play weaker players for money instead of seeking challenge and lesson from better players to improve his game. I've met many players that actually only think about money, not the game itself.
well that's a choice to make, a way to live, absolutely no right or wrong here.
again it's a choice, for me hustling is no different than cheating, stealing. And many many of guys feel happy doing that I can understand.
( cheat CHēt verb : 1. act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.)
But for me at the end of the day what left for the hustlers, telling your kids that you just hustle a guy for money or you are the champion ?
Earl said :" Nobody claps a hustler, they all clap the champion"
Ralf said :" Money comes and goes, title last forever "

Hustlers won't give a shit about what I'm saying, all they care about is money. But I don't thing everybody think like that, many things in life that are valuable than money.

by saying all this I have an impression that I live in another world lol, I hope I'm not.:)
Shane will beat any Euro player head to head in 9 or 10 ball in longer races for cash. These tournaments are cool but as Jimmy Mataya would say...

Like I said, maybe he will "one day" he sure is good enough, right?
And when he does he can join the ranks of Mika and Corey who have done it already

faith in humanity restored. But watch out, they'll be coming for you now

Shane is the best player in the world now. He won 3 US open, and that's no mean feat. Efren would die to win another US open i'm sure.

I guess this is just a freak show of SVB nuthuggers vs SVB-hasn't-won-an-international-championship.

and Darren and Dennis, What about Alex?
But hey! did you see that TAR match? boy he just steam rolls people.

I agree with you on a few levels. Using a magic rack and having it alternate break levels out the playing field enormously. The one thing I dont agree on is you saying this is a short race. For a tournament setting these races are longer than most. 9 in the qualifying rounds, 11 in the knockout rounds and 13 in the finals. I would like to see the format changed to winner break and double elimination. I really think that this would enable the cream to rise to the top. If it stays the same format it is such a crap shoot and it really can be won by the majority of the players that enter.

A Calcutta of the final 64 would have been interesting. Who would you pick with pick of the lot? Would the top bid be much higher than the 20th highest bid?

Shane sold for $7,000, and Corey for about $5,500 in the Four Bears Casino tournament this year because they were by far better than the rest of the field and were expected to make it to the finals.

now that is one hell of a "on another note". Not to mention with the money that these guys have, OMG. I know that they were betting but yea i would like to hear the numbers in a more realistic form.

Best player in the world, and will be for a long time.

Interesting take on Shane. Here's a partial list of accomplishments including his 3 US Open 9-ball championships, which if I'm not mistaken has players from all over the world, not just the US. This does not include all the challenge matches he had accepted from every great player that has asked. But you're right, he does not have a world title where he must fly 1/2 way around the world to get to, and may never. But he may as well.

I think EVERYONE is missing the point!!!

It is not about SHANE. It is about the rest of the world putting in the time, effort & work!!! They are catching up and serving up some " A$$ Whooping$" no more no less.

They deserve some praise. They don't get out much and I see a ton of names from all over the globe that I never heard of before and to be honest they work just as hard if not harder and deserve the RECOGNITION. People are too quick to down play what it takes to MAN up and beat shane in a race to 11 on the world stage for real DOLLARS. It ain't easy! No sponsors calling the guy. No face time on the cover of AZBilliards. These guys internationally deserve a pat on the back and some recognition. Not, all the excuses about "Jetlag" or he got "LUCKY" that guy MR. LUNG is a serious player and so is Wang Cam and others. But, I can see why haters come on here upset that AMERICANS can't PRAISE talent when they see it some times and want to let patriotic pride cloud what they say and do, instead of appreciating the beauty of precision execution.

yea, you mean the same "look at that roster" when he's playing at home at the open or in a TAR match.

and Calibration hears another. He's like the high school jock and some of you guys his groupie, he's hot shit in regionals but when you get to nationals you realize that there's a lot hotter shit than you.

His control and table-presence make the other top players look like hacks... Hands-down the best.
