The USPS Strikes Again!

I agree. The triangular Priority Mail boxes you get at the post office are much sturdier.

The newest triangular Priority Mail tubes are crap.
This box isn't much better, but it wasn't packaged well at all.
The box would of been adequate if the packing was better.
Poor shipping skills by Seyberts.
Marking or labeling "fragile" doesn't help and may make things worse.
The key is better packing & packaging.
Double wall boxes are too expensive, nobody uses them for cues & cases.
The key is in the packaging, my 8x8x36 tall boxes for cases aren't much better, but I don't have this problem.

My wife reminded me this morning that she's been told that items need to be packed to withstand the impact of being dropped at least three feet. Drops that far on the conveyor belt.

I have been screwed numerous times by USPS. I keep the remains of one of my destroyed items hanging on my dart board. The apology bag with my destroyed item is classic. Since opening a UPS account, I have not had one problem with any of my shipments.

one of the shortcomings of UPS is they actually deliver the damaged item whereas fedex and perhaps ups send the damaged goods back to the shipper so the customer never sees it.

You all realize that the USPS uses FedEx for Priority mail right? They have had the contract for 12 years (Express and Priority flights) and just won against UPS to continue another 7 years. I've used them all both sending and receiving thousands of items. they all mess up now and then. To me the only difference is that making a claim with USPS is a bigger hassle.

Not always...some package handlers figure if it isn't leaking...pass it on through. As I previously mentioned...worked the damaged packages with FedEx for several years.

Having done that...and having a criteria for allowing or denying 'insurance'...I would definitely have denied this one as inadequately packed.

The case would've easily survived a 3 foot drop...but definitely not a 100+ lb box dropped onto it from 3 feet.

Update: Received an email this morning from Seyberts, after the long holiday weekend, and they are sending out a replacement case. Woohoo!!

Great customer service from Seyberts!!!

Red letter day! The replacement case arrived and is perfect!! Thank you to Seyberts for the excellent customer service!!!!!

FYI...it would appear the USPS is now using a 3rd party company to assess and handle their damaged package claims....U-PIC.com. Got an affidavit from them stating that they had received the claim and were reviewing it. That was different.
