In the states, most all players and wannabe gamblers/hustlers/poolplayers never show their true speed unless they Have Too (APA?) Because of this most American so call pool sharks/hustlers/gamblers will never realize their true ability, like Thorston Hollman has, and keep improving. The game, the hustle and getting the $$$$$$$$ are at the top of the list for Many. Because of this, the core of most all players is NEVER to PLAY all out all the time and therefore they are becoming more and more unable to compete on the world stage.

That's the case with everything in life, so it has nothing to do with pool. Pool lags because there's no money in it and there's no money in it because it is sold as a boring game.

While I don't agree with the original poster either I do find it funny that the first person that responded to him has 'AKA Sand Bag' in his signature.

We dont have any players!

I would agree with you if the players were making REAL MONEY Hustling!! But they are not, so it really comes down to lack of discipline, lack of work ethic and being plan old lazy!

I hear all the guys complaining about the lack of money in Pool and I agree, but that might mean going to work so that you can pump money into what you love, have your own money to gamble with, play tournaments and play when you can, first get the money.

thats the main reason I don't gamble...

The only way to make money at gambling and win is to hide your game and get the nuts, cause if you don't have the nuts, you can bet your opponent probably does. Everyone seems to need to think they have the nuts to be willing to gamble.

that's why I don't like to gamble. Not because I can't win, but because I would have to hide my game or I"m giving my money away and that will affect my game in the long run. I've had to force myself to not hide my game from old habit when I used to gamble and there's times that you fall back on those bad habits when you don't want to.

I remember when Oscar and John Morra were playing on table 6 at hardtimes. I had gotten table 7 right behind them and was practicing.

I had several break and runs playing tenball and I heard someone in the stands say, who is this guy on 7 he's playing lights out? He happened to ask a local San Diego player who then replied, oh that's Kevin, I can give him the eight...

Of course I heard ALL of this and replied up to the stands, "the only reason he says that is because he knows I don't gamble".

Lol. Yeah, everything else in life if you're a con man and a pathological liar. If you're a normal person, absolutely nothing is like that.

My LO thinks I'm a horrible sandbagger for a 7/9. I plan on trying harder next season.

Really? You give 110% every day at work? You must be self-employed. If you're married, do you stop and pick flowers for your wife every day on your way home? Tell me what giving your all means to you, because I don't think we have the same definition. Speaking of which, time for me to get ready to go to work, where I can regularly put in 50-75% effort and still out-perform most. It's pretty draining to red-line every day and my paycheck doesn't reflect that kind of demand.

I hid my real speed back in the '80s and '90s.
I did want to have to give Buddy, Earl and Mike the 8 ball.

So you're sandbagging your current wife so the next one won't know your true speed?

We're talking about intentional deceptiveness, not just failing to play at 100%. It takes extra effort to hide, not less effort.
