One of the main reasons I got the Roku 3 was to stream pool matches to my main TV.
With the help of Spider Jerusalem I found this site:

That site is good but it only has select U-stream events going on. (A good one from Diamond Billiards in VA btw.)

But I had heard about Play Cast too...... Will cast anything on your PC to the TV kinda like Chrome cast. Definitely worth checking out.

I just had the RI Snookers stream on my TV as a test. :D

It is fee based. But I just paid $70 for the lifetime so I'm done with that.
So tomorrow night I will be watching the CSI challenge match on my big screen! :thumbup:
And many more to follow. No more gathering around the PC.
Can't wait for The Mosconi Cup!!!!

HI Purchased Chrome Cast for $35.00 it works great on my 52 inch tv. You have to download google Chrome and set up Chrome Cast to view on big tv. Works great for me no wiring from computer to tv
 
HDMI is where its at......

"HDMI OUT" of your computer (not all, but most modern computers, tablets and some smart phones offer this feature) to "HDMI IN" on your TV, that's how I roll.....

Very nice. I have to wait for my next computer for that one. Only have old DVI out!!!!:angry:
One other feature with Play Cast is that u can record. But of course that costs more. Happy streaming!!

Cool stuff, technology is awesome. I would like to play with both the Roku & Chromecast, I just don't have the need for either at the moment.

This is for anyone else who may have the same issue (No HDMI out on your computer but you do have DVI out).

DVI and HDMI carry the same signal, the only difference is a DVI cable does not carry an audio signal over the cable, whereas HDMI is both Audio & Video in one cable (why HDMI became a standard more or less, well that and HDCP too). However there is a little workaround to achieve the same results.

For the video signal, head over to amazon and get a DVI to HDMI adapter, I like cables like this one so you don't have to have an additional HDMI cable as well.

Now for the audio, since the DVI to HDMI does not carry an audio signal, while at Amazon add one of these to your cart too.

Take the audio cable and plug it in where you would plug in a stereo headset into your computers audio card. Next, simply plug the other ends to the composite AUDIO IN right/left channel on the back of your TV, now you have a stereo audio signal to your tv since the adapter cable won't carry an audio signal. Viola', you just made an HDMI cable adapter from a computer that doesn't have HDMI out, but does have DVI out capabilities.

At the end of the day, whichever solution you go with, the end result is the same. You won't find a Roku or Chromecast for under $11. On the flip side, $35 isn't much more to pay to not have to see or mess with any wires and ease of portability. I'm sure I'll give Chromecast a try someday, I just don't have a need for it this day.

I prefer chromecast since it allows me to, using chrome, cast whatever is on my laptop screen.

I just bought a $60 3D Samsung smart blu ray player on Groupon, it has Samsung Apps and Ustream is one of them. :smile:
 
MAJOR brain fart.
I hope the info on this post helps all with different situations.
But thanks to some of the above posters I did re-think my hook up.
When I did my H. Theater downstairs I ran a ton of wire. Including HDMI an Optical and 3 ethernet's up to my computer / router.
Including the HDMI to DVI converter mentioned above,
I had the optical run to my receiver (Game 1). And HDMI to PC port in the receiver. I just took the HDMI out of the PC port (which doesn't have a separate sound input), put it in Game 1 (which has both) and presto! ugh!
I wired up my whole bad ass system downstairs and snoozed on this!

I think Play Cast could definitely help a lot of people. And the recording option is nice too.
But now I'm going to try and get my $70 back!!!!!

BTW still loving the ROKU 3!! :grin:

For Apple TV users;

1) Bring up ustream on an Apple device and air play it to the ATV.

2) Purchase Air Parrot, $10. This will enable desk top mirroring to ATV from a PC to ATV.

Or, you can use WiDi (Intel program already installed on, I5 chips or newer) and a compatible device, around $50. This will enable desktop mirroring like using chromcast or Apple TV.
 
Wife is pissed 'cuz we watched many matches on the computer in the last year....
And I always grab the good chair.
Could've been in the basement for all those... oh well lol

Bonus............. $70 will pay for a couple of Pool PPV's. CSI Sunday 10-ball for sure!

I bought a 35' HDMI cable and a mini-port converter for my Dell. I clone the screen and send the sound to my 55" Panasonic TV.
 
I love reading about other peoples setups & solutions. There are so many possible combinations & technical solutions at our disposal today. There is no longer just one way of doing things.

At the end of the day it's not so much about what's right and what's wrong, but what works for each person and their available hardware.

Okay looking for an answer for this:
Had CSI on my TV last night. After 10 min. or so my arrow from the mouse would appear in the center of my TV screen.
I tried unplugging the mouse from the tower. It didn't help.
Had to keep going upstairs to move off the screen.
Any advice?
 
Hmmm..I'm assuming we're talking about Microsoft Windows 7/8...

Without having access to the box, I can only make a few assumptions and guesses. If the mouse does become visible over the full screen video, does it disappear once again after a short period as it should?

#1) Could be the screensaver is trying to kick on, but the full screen video kills the process (what its supposed to do so you're not interrupted). This could trigger the mouse cursor to appear, same as if you had moved the mouse. To resolve this simply disable the screensaver, or set it to turn on after 5-10 hours etc.

#2) Is your computer monitor scheduled to shut down after "X" amount of time without activity? if so then adjust this setting to a longer duration or disable.

#3) For some reason, another application in the background is taking focus (an update, or end-user prompt etc). this would call for the mouse cursor to become visible. This is an easy one because once you close the video you'll see a window and go "Oh, that's why".

#4) Another (HID device) keyboard, mouse, trackpad, touchpad, drawing pad connected sensing movement? Own any cats? They love keyboards and touchpads.

#5) The video stream was interrupted for a split second thus triggering an application change of state, making a call for the mouse to become visible.

Those are just some quick guesses and without any further details they may or may not be the root of your problem. Your mission should you choose to accept it is, find out what process is taking focus in the background and adjust or eliminate it. This message will not self destruct.

Will take a look at #'s 3-5. I already disabled scr. saver and shut down when I started streaming Sirius to the basement.
I'll have to trouble shoot the other things. Thanks again.
