Steve Mizerak 14.1 format race to 3 , 75 points each match

I was told i should post this in this forum. I find this match on You-tube, looks reasonable for streamers and players, what is your take..

Race to 3 , 75 points, between Steve Mizerak and Steve Davis,

Could add to it, a player can continue the high run one time if they did 75 and out for max run prize only, not the match win.

This would be a joke in tournament play, possibility of over a 9 hour match for some players. There were a few matches going to 150 at this years to tournament that lasted over 4 hours. You would be potentially adding another 446 balls that could possibly be pocketed.

Those who fail to know history are doomed to repeat it... or sumptin' like that.

Assuming that you didn't watch the original broadcast of which this event was one
part, you are doubtless ignorant(wild guess) of the context in which this was shown.

Roughly at the peak of Steve Davis' career, when he was earning about a million dollars
an hour as the worlds best Snooker player, and Miz was a school teacher, and,
the best known Pool player due to the famous Miller Lite tv commercial, someone promoted
this one off match. It was held in France, IIRC - and rigged for Miz to win.

They played the 14.1 plus short matches in Snooker and 9 Ball. Miz lost the Snooker
but did show plenty of ability at the game, Davis did a good job at the 14.1 even tho
quite obviously over matched - and was helpless at 9 Ball. This was well before his
Mosconi Cup days.

Sooooo, someone with a lot more money than sense got to bankroll a red blooded
American, meaninglessly winning against a Brit Snooker star.

The net result:

No other matches were ever played again.

The event had absolutely NO impact on Pool in general or 14.1 specifically, and of
course, wasn't even noticed in the world of Snooker.

Other than that... it sounds like you have a swell idea there.

Thanks for stopping in.

Thanks Dale for the history, the purpose of me posting it, to show that 14.1 format could be done as done with this match, end of sentence. Those that hold 14.1 tournament, hope to adapt this format; just in case Efren, SVB, DAZ, Ronnie O, Dennis O, Thorten all super pros decided to be in it , so we are able to see them shoot some balls, and not sit and rack..! If 75 points too much make it 50!

So why don't you just stick to 6 ball?

You seem to be totally incapable of understanding that a 14.1 match is not a ball running contest.

As has previously been pointed out to you there is a game which meets your requirements. It is called equal offense.
