Best tip I've played with for years..........

Ordered the trial pack. Want to try the hard tip on my break cue and the medium on my play cue. The soft tip I'm gifting to my friend and cue repairman since he is a fan of soft tips. I value his opinion and he's a fan of the Kamui soft tips. I'm interested in his reaction.

I order OB2+ in 5/16x14 and 3/8x11. 5.16x14 came in first, immediately put a Ki-Tech soft on it and loved it. Gave my Son a Ki-Tech soft for his cue, he loves it. Got the 3/8x11 in with the Tiger Everest, hit balls for an hour. Absolutely hated it. Took it to the cue repair guy, put on a Ki-Tech soft, love it again.

3 or 4 months ago, you couldn't have convinced me a tip makes so much difference.

Ain't that somethin....

Me neither. I thought the low deflection shaft was making the mess.

truth of the matter was the tips were just grabbing too much.

What Chris and his crew have done is kind of amazing. I'm using the medium. it plays like the best LaPro I ever had on and the shape has not changed a bit.

I get plenty of spin that I need to get the job done. Just can't wait for these knees to heal up so I can really get used to these.

All a player has to do is try one and it's over.

Need Help Please....

Girlfriend and kids are gone to the beach and she took the good camera... Can any of you guys that have had the softs installed post photos of the install? There is a huge difference between cutting them with a chisel or new razor blade and I need a photo for someone to compare their istall to before I can figure out if it was a bad install or I need to make the tip up... Well I'll make the tip up regardless but I hate to think we are still having bad ones slip thru....

I know Geno had a soft go kaplui but the installer used some time of grinder on it LOL

Chris

Ohh and while I am here.... The Medium does have less spin than our soft or the medium/soft when it releases... "Ki" is Chinese for balance and what we try to do is balance the spin/speed ratio for your style of play.... As you move up our hardness grades you trade spin for speed so you can find a grade that makes reality match whats in your head... Well unless you shoot like me and imagine shots Earl would shoot =)

Chris,

Although my mandarin ain't first class, but balance in chinese should be known as "Ping" or "Wen"? Ki is like dialect instead?

Chi, Qi, KI? Balance of positive and negative in the body... am sure the translation may not be close and cannot apply to tips but from a Western standpoint we tend to bend words into use in areas they were not meant to be used... I think life energy was the origin and trying to apply it as I have may not even be possible in the original context... Not the first mistake I have made with Mandarin.... John Barton's wife Karen confirmed I have son-in-law and not husband tatood on my left bicep.......

Arh, okay. I get it now why Ki is known as balance because its from the ying yang thingy. The funny thing is mandarin has many different words and it gets irritating at times. Haha.

So basically its known as Ki as in Kee Tech? I always pronounced it as K I Tech. :D

Like's Em I Do

Bought the sample pack--2 soft tips and one medium. Put the soft on my cue last night and let it set until lunch today--shaved it down and hit a few shots--Wow ...moving the cue ball right where I want to and making shots with consistency...Then off ,,back to the job. Took a little time and home relaxing and then back to the table--Yep...these are what I've been hunting for--these tips play like the old Champion tips ,,back when they were really good--will be looking to see how they ware,,but after a few hours of play,,the one on my cue is just like it was when I installed it. I have one of the hand layths to cut the tip--This is one good product and will be looking to sell the couple of SS K tips I have for back up's. Looks Like I'm going off for a 10 pack of these next--going to try the med on my other shaft and get a feel for how that hits before making the desicision on which way to go..
To add--No more layered tips on my cue's from now on--They always glazed over and would give a crazy feel from time to time--I didn't once get that vibe from this new tip

Soft Install

Installed a couple softs this past weekend. Really liked the way they play. Seems to be holding it's shape well so far. Trimming and shaping these soft tips is a little like trimming an Elkmaster in my opinion. A sharp blade is a must to keep the heat down. I didn't have any trouble because as soon as I started to trim the sides I could tell my blade was too dull. I was figuring I would only get one more tip with it anyway. After changing the blade and applying some good ol spit it trimmed and shaped fine.

It's the medium.........

I still have not touched my tip after putting it on about 40 days ago.

it seems to play even better.

The medium plays like the best LaPro I ever had on my cue stick.

It's hard to explain until a person tries it but it grabs without grabbing like glue. Eliminating allot of friction enduced throw. I still get a skid here and there but not like I did with the layered tips.

I'm playing again and couldn't be happier with this product.

Thanks again Chris for doing whatever your doing to make these play like they do.

Joey. You need to try one as soon as you can.

The path of the cue ball after contact with the object ball will be wider but very consistent. Don't have to worry too much with over spin.

Bank shots are much easier too with less accidental over spin.

cannot be cut, cannot be trimmed.
take this material and mold, possibly the world's best tip.

LOL Just saw this... From what I recall the superballs were great until they weren't at which point they would explode into a billion little pieces of rubber... When I was cooping at the Labs we used to take them and freeze them in liquid nitrogen and go detonate them in the parking lot.. That was some fun stuff... I filled my shoe up with it once on accident and it didn't cause any damage but all the hairs on the top of my foot broke clean off at the root lol

Thanks. The kamui brown medium is my tip of choice also, but I've had one that literally fell apart and one that glazed constantly. Performance wise, they are superb.

I want a tip I don't even have to think about. I have enough to worry about as it is.

Kamui brown med and black medium are top shelf forsure. Zan makes another great layered tip

Still got the same ki-tech medium i put on 4 months ago...

This tip still plays great.

And because it hasn't spread out from compression the glue is still holding on all sides of the tip from what I can see.

This tip has not only performed well but it is still doing the job.

Very consistent.

To be honest, if a player doesn't try these tips they are the ones missing out.

The medium does play like the old la Pros but keeps it's shape and doesn't spread out making it necessary to continually sand and trim the edges.

If you don't try one of these tips you lose for sure.

Just my opinion with 50 years of experience for what it's worth.

Thanks again chris for such a great product..........

I agree as I have had my medium on for a month now which amounts to maybe 100 hours of use. no mushrooming and have had to scuff only once. seems to produce what English I want and the only miscues were the part of the archer. I may change over to the soft in another month just for comparison purposes as the medium seems to hit a little harder than the kamui clear medium. over the past 3 years I have tried 7 different tips and this one seems to be number 1 so far. thanks again chris.

What does it look like?

Can anyone post a pic of these tips? What color is it? A close up would be great.
