Dennis will be coming to Los Angeles on Oct. 3, prior to playing in the Challenge of Champions and then the U.S. Open. We are planning two clinics for him, one on Oct. 4 and one on Oct. 5. To keep it more personal we will limit them to four people each day, $100 per person. Tentatively scheduled for 2-5 PM each day.

If you are interested in spending an afternoon with Dennis, give me a heads up via PM or jayhelfert@yahoo.com. He is an excellent instructor with tons of knowledge to share. Every clinic we've done everyone walked away very pleased. Dennis loves teaching people and helping them with their game.

Dang.......I wish I lived in Cali.

Dennis is a great guy. I'm sure you won't have any problems filling this up.......

Very Reasonable pricing.. I wish some would come through Louisiana with something like this!

I took a private lesson from Dennis. This was truthfully one of the highlights of my entire pool experience. I would refer to him as a coach because he treats lessons with the personal involvement of a coach and gives his students a lot of attention.

You have an opportunity to spend time with one of the greatest players in the world who also happens to understand how to teach. He opened my eyes to the kicking game and simplifying position play. I was making easy out after out with his pointers and realized how much easier the game is when a world class player is showing you what to do. Plus Dennis is good people. He is very humble, grateful for his gifts, and respectful of other players. I would recommend this to B players and on up.

^that is true - he simplifies shots using center-ball when hitting the cueball. i've personally seen him give some tips (here in Manila), and he always advices to minimize english and perfect learning the natural roll of the cueball and controlling the force from your arm when shooting.

English...... Use it or get beat by it... Your choice.... I have scored enough of his matches to tell you what he says is not what he does when he plays if he advocates center ball.... Center ball and a level stroke has likely busted more players than the DEA.......

The advise you were hearing was probably for a beginner. During the course of a lesson with him, I asked what percentage of shots he shoots with english because I spin the ball in one fashion or another on every shot and was curious how he played.. With a puzzled look on his face, he said, "Every shot."

if i remember it correctly it was in Star Billiards - he was giving some tips to female players from Korea (or from China). he was basically showing how not to complicate shots too much. yeah, probably for the not-so-advanced players.

I've still got two openings on Sat, Oct. 4 from 2-5PM. Refreshments will be served. :)

Can't believe there are still spots open... a chance to learn from one of the best, who happens to be a great teacher as well. A rare combination and a once in a lifetime chance for many of us.

Pretty much same with me. He uses simple position and patterns but to precisely position the cue ball you have to use English on many shots. Virtually every time I asked him about a play he said the usual 'low right, high left" etc. etc. I have nothing against center ball. I've even used it a couple of times this year.

Birthday gift to myself

:thumbup:Thanks to Dennis and Jay for an informative and entertaining afternoon.

Dennis was responsive to questions and generous with his demonstrations, answers and time.

Jay was an excellent and gracious host for this gathering.

Dennis shared technical shot information and insights into his mindset and that of other top pros during the heat of competition.

Speaking for myself... a thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile afternoon. I believe the other attendees felt the same.

It was my pleasure and honor to meet both Dennis and Jay.

Thank you both.

Thank you Dennis for all the advice and thank you Jay for opening your home to us. Just like last time, I enjoyed the afternoon and would jump at the opportunity to do it again. :thumbup:Best of luck to Dennis in San Diego, Steve
