Dufferin Sneaky Pete Replacement

Recently my trusty old Dufferin sneaky pete got destroyed. I tried a Players sneaky , but I don't like the way it shoots. My Dufferin was purchased back in 1987. I have looked for them on Ebay, but haven't seen any. Does anyone know of a sneaky that shoots like the old Dufferins? Do the Eliminators have a similar feel?

Every pool cue will be different, what you probably want is the same tip and shaft you had. It's impossible to say how a hit will be matched to another cue even with the same shaft and tip though. When I use my son's shaft on my cue, it's a very different hit than from how his setup feels.

Any solid wood two peice cue made like a house cue is should hit like a Dufferin, in theory.

Maybe find an older Dufferin house cue and have a cue maker convert it.

Action and Elite make resonably prices sneaky pete type cues, but you likely won't be happy unless you find the same taper and tip that you had on yours.

your exact dufferin sneaky is still being made by................dufferin

I purchased and played with numerous dufferin sneaks in the early 90s, the wood to wood "phantom" and various basic steel jointed ones.....the now chinese versions imo are indistinguishable imo

Contact Jim Baxter. He's been converting one piece Dufferin cues and they play great and are very reasonably priced.

smashmouth I'm glad you can find these in your area. I can't in mine. Google links bring me to pages showing discontinued cues.

You can still get a Dufferin one piece cue from Ozone billiards for about $40. I'm thinking of doing the same because I always loved those sticks.

I also have played a lil with a Players sneaky, and I own the one that's made by Action. I like the Action, especially considering the $60 price I paid. It doesn't hit like a Dufferin but better than the Players, imo.

Your google-fu is weak. The top hit I got when googling "dufferin phantom" was F.G.Bradley, a very reputable outfit. Here is the link to a new Dufferin Phantom :

I stopped looking after that top hit.

I also have an older (1995ish) Phantom, made in Mississauga. It got me stated into collecting sneakies  Anyway, I have seen the newly made ones in a local store (same one I bought mine from in 1995ish) and they look fine to me.

Dave <-- has his eyes on a friends green-leaf, and another friends bacote-Phantom (red-leaf) just to add a couple more interesting sneakies to the collection

I'd say take your time and save a search on eBay for it, and one will come up - multiple ones normally come up every couple of months at the most. Shouldn't cost you more than a hundred bucks, and you can probably get one for much less. If you like the hit, I wouldn't get anything else hoping it hits like it, I'd just wait for the real thing again. I had one that I recently sold and I loved it. I'll probably have to pick another one up some day.

Another thought is just make a wanted listing here in the Wanted/For Sale forum. Lots of guys on here would probably have one lying around they could let go.

Thank you for correcting me. When I search for Dufferin sneaky, I got bad links. When I serach Duffernin phantom, it is right at the top. Sorry to waste everyone's times.

Never a waste of time, worry not. Hope you get a nice Phantom. When I bought mine from Goulds Home Recreation here in Saskatoon the manager (Ev) and I picked though maybe 50 of them on the racks ... fun times :D !

There is a member here from Ontairo, Canada. Roy Masse or Masse is his AZ username. I have a bad memory from day to day.

He is a great guy to deal with. When Dufferin closed shop, he purchased the remaining stock in their warehouse.

He has a ton of old Duff stock in various stages of completion. Even ebony forearms if one were to be interested.

I am sure that he would be happy to fix you up with a little something. He is kind of like the resident Duff Pro.

If he doesn't see this, (he usually does), and you can't find him, I will give you a hand.

He posts on occasion in the Cue Maker Forums.

I can't say fer shure that he has any fully completed Duffs or not but he will certainly get or make you something in that year range for you. They will be the Old Canadian made ones and not from somewhere, nowhere over seas ones.

Dave, me tinks dat you might find a Red, Green and any color leaf you wish for there.

I got a bunch of ash shafts a while ago. Darn, I has to gets my bum in gear and buy up some of that stock before he sells it all.

Or I will end up a Day Late and a Dollar Short as par usual with me.
