That pisses me off. He should not be saying crap like that on the Accu-Stats recorded match. That is very unprofessional of him to do so. IMO. People will start picking him apart if he keeps that crap up.

I'll tell you, these blue-blooded pool purists rub me the wrong way sometimes. There's more to pool than emotionless robots wearing tuxedos playing mum pool. And pool guppies don't have to go to Mark's boot camp to become good players, either.
The sooner these pool purists get that, the better off the American pool culture will be. The conflict or tension between the pool purists and the action aficionados is what is keeping American pool in the doldrums. Nobody can agree on which direction to go in. Industry has alreday stepped away from professional pool, which is beginning to smell like a rotting fish in water. Remarks like this by Mark Wilson *on the air* are wrong.
I agree with both of you guys, obviously Mark can have his own opinions but he probably shouldn't be saying that on a live stream. Earl obviously has some issues but he is probably the most naturally gifted player I have ever seen.
The truth is the truth. The comment about "it would be better for Team USA if Earl played for Europe" certainly wasn't necessary.

Those are accurate and honest remarks. Earl is an embarrassment to the game.
Actually i like the spice Earl puts on to heat up a match! he brings different kind of entertainment, TV Europe is going to miss him big time!

I agree that his behavior could be much better but to call him an embarrassment to the game is not true...
Despite Mark's personal feelings on Earl, he should keep them to himself while commentating a PPV live stream. His opinions on players are not wanted nor relevant to the stream, level of play or amusement of viewers.
Mark is the captain of of the Mosconi Cup Team and should display the highest level of professionalism at all times. Making negative statements about other players is not doing that.

Count me as one of those surprised at Mark's comments; I agree it is not an earth-shaking viewpoint, but also so unprofessional to let it come out during a publicly taped match..... I thought he was smarter than that....oh well; just goes to show none of us is infallible, I guess..... I do think less of him for saying that, though...seeing as how Earl has shown to be so patriotic and competitive for the US of A.

Yeah, Mark shouldn't have said that, but far more ridiculous was Mark's suggestion that Earl is one of the top three or four American players. Actually, he's fourth best (third best American) on the Joss Tour, in which most events are won by Dechaine, most of the rest by Shaw, and a couple here and there by Sossei.
Earl will have ample opportunity to watch some of the American guys who play better than him now that his US Open is finished.
Earl has no wins in 2014, but his fans seem more and more impressed with him after every loss. I'm sure that this failure will re-enforce their faith in him, perhaps even escalate their opinion of him.
My opinion is that Earl, one of the top few nine ball players ever, will never have another top 10 in a US Open. I'd love to be wrong and wish him the best.
I can think of lots of accurate and honest remarks about people that are derogatory in nature. Some of these folks are regulars on this forum. I have the good taste to keep these thoughts to myself and out of the public eye, and I'm not even a professional.
Lapse in judgment IMO. I won't hold it against him unless he continues to feel he is justified in persisting in this sort of commentary.
yes maybe Mark should not have said it given his position, but yea Earl was a complete embarrassment last year at the mosconi cup, i was ashamed he was on our team......and i like Earl.
