The cream has risen to the top.

Could it be that an all American final could go off?

It's possible.

Nick the Greek is on fire for sure and will be tough action for SVB if he can block out what happened in Greece some months back.

Mike has been in one nailbiter after another proving his mettle to get to Saturday play. Mark wilson commentating 2 of MD's matches has been extremely complimentary of Mike.

Can't help but to think if Mark Wilson is thinking, damn, having that stick on our squad might have been real nice.

I'm just going to say this once, I've done a pretty good job thus far in containing myself but here goes.

imho, Mark could have stepped up his own game a little by challenging himself to *coach* MD through whatever he felt needed fixing. That's part of what coaching is about, right? I know, I know; he's already coaching him by excluding him.

On stream he said Mike is "a fierce competitor."

He sure is!!!

Justin Hall really showed up for this event and has to have cemented his place on Team USA. Did anyone notice how he joked a little with Karl just before breaking at hill-hill? Very classy and did he ever show some heart.

I think Oscar may have played his way out of consideration after this US Open performance coupled with a poor showing at Turning Stone.

Somebody pls fill in the blank:

SVB
Hall
Bergman
Sossei

____________???

Very good points!

How about SVB Hall Bergman Shuff and Dechaine...

I have said before that Mark has most likely picked his team based not only on skill level but also individual attitudes. I especially like your comments about Mark coaching Mike to be a better player mentally. Taking Mike under his wing could be the key for sure.

Regarding Oscar, he appears to be a very classy and all around nice guy. But after having watched him play since he matched up on TAR against John Morra I have never been impressed with his game. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player but I think the guys I listed above are phenomenal players possessing the grit it takes to bring home a Cup. Those guys are fierce and feared and have an intimidating table presence. Not so much with Oscar...

I was pondering it earlier and I'd love to see mark come out and congratulate dechaine on an impressive year by awarding him a slot despite him not being in "the 8". I'd love to see Shane, Corey, hall, Bergman, and dechaine as our 5. Tons of firepower there.

Corey should be the final selection. This group is going to need a veteran presence (besides SVB) in England come December.

Go America

Go mike and Shane, hope it is and american final.About time and hope the americans kick ass in the moconi cup.Rich aka the skunk.

Today is not about the Mosconi Cup. It's about American excellence at the US Open. Seeing our two best players still in the mix is exciting for fans of American pool. It means so much to us because of how greatly we respect the sustained excellence of the Asians and Europeans.

For a day, let's focus on the US Open. Starting tomorrow, we'll return to the subject of the Mosconi Cup as, I believe, the team will be selected in the next few days. Hopefullly, Matchroom won't announce the team one player at a time.
