Jeff Olney, What a stand up guy. NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Of course there is more to it. I think it boils down to
the fact that Jeff doesn't appreciate it when he gives
someone a good deal and they turn around and flip
the cue for a profit. He would rather sell cues to
people who want to keep them instead of make money
off his hard work. That's just my opinion,

He gave the cue away for a better deal to a flipper (Jeff's words) already. That argument has already been invalidated by Jeff himself.

Regardless, Jeff did the wrong thing. Nothing good will happen from this thread anymore. Everyone knows the score now. Some fans choose to defend it. Whatever.

Let's look at this^^^^^^^^
Jeff sells me 3 extra cues, Matt 3 extra cues, and Brad 2 extra cues. His idea was to flip to pay for the cues we designed. More expensive cues.
And this doesn't seem weird. A man who has a 7 year wait, has extra cues.
My opinion is..... These where someone's cues that he didn't think would make good on paying off the cues and he NEEDED some cash for bills, so he sold them to us.

actually that doesn't seem weird to me at all..

Being a cue maker myself, there is a lot of duplication of work that can make things more efficient if you do more similar cues at the same time, so it makes sense to be making extra cues that you can sell as a chance arises that are similar to ones that you are making for customers because just a little bit of extra time to make the extra cues goes a long way towards finishing more cues in the long run...

i have not read every post in this thread but i have read most of them. yes i think luck 1st got screwed and mr olney has more or less admitted he made a mistake.

the one thing that bothers me the most about this incident...if it is true , is when luck 1st said he was in mr olneys shop when mr olney threw a customers order away. it bothers the shit out of me that this poor guy is gonna be waiting a long time for a cue that will never be made.

luck 1st said he never said any thing because he feared repercussion from mr olney due to the cue he had on order.

like i said ..if this incident is true i think mr olney is at the top of my shit list and luck 1st is one notch below him for never saying any thing and continuing to do bussiness with a person of low moral fiber as mr olney apparently has.

the way i look at it is...if mr olney would do such a deed to that fellow he would very possibly do it to me or friends of mine. if i ad been in luck 1st place that day i would have told him to stick that cue up his ass that luck 1st has been waiting on for 4 years and never do bissiness with him again.

i would also have let every one know what a low down move he pulled. there are too many good cue makers who do what they promise for me to give my hard earned money ro some one who apparently has low moral fiber and is dis honest.

what bothers me is ...too many people have bad dealings with certain cue makers and never say any thing until some one else gets pissed off enough to come forward then a bunch more come on and say...yea it happened to me also.

case in point is zinzola. he screwed over a bunch of people because no one said said any thing until tikkler did. if when the 1st person got screwed over had come forward maybe several others would not have gotten screwed also.

but then again i understand why some dont have the nerve to come forward. it seems like if some one does share their bad experience a shit load of nut huggers come out defending the cue maker and bash the poster and all but accuse him of lying.

@^#%#%^

If post is true cue maker is a Douche. Its sad how many cuemakers turn into asses for a little $$$
I was speaking with my buddy Glen (AKA Nascar) and he told me a story about another very highly regarded cuemaker who pulled a fast one on him. Not sure if he made it public but after hearing that info I'd be hard pressed to buy a cube of chalk from just about any so called cue maker.............So sad what this world has become

I would suggest to all that you buy used in person and avoid the risk of heart break and loss of $$$$$$ not to mention the frustration....ok enough of shelling out my 2 cents

Never said anything about fearing any repercussions.

And it wasn't me that first mentioned the story of Jeff throwing away a guy's order.
I never said I was there.

my bad.... shoulda done my reasearch before posting.:grin-square:

i was just going off memory ...it aint what it used to be.

just went back and looked. it was your brother " ykndoit " i believe who posted the story. he also mentioned in that post about if you said any thing negative to mr olney he would "round circle " your order. so i took it as if you said any thing you might fear he would screw with your order.

again my appologies for thinking it was you. it is apparent now that you were aware of said incident and never said any thing about it and still continued to do business with the guy. did you not think...if he was capable of screwing other people over that he was capable of screwing you over.

or did you think at the time like his defenders still do... it wont happen to me.

that is the point i was trying to make.

until it actually happened to you ,,,you thought the same way the people who are defending him in this thread thought even though you knew he had screwed some one else.

I can honestly say, I didn't know about the whole "Round Filing" of cue orders, until after I posted my original thread.
Not that I need YOU our anyone to believe me.

I had know idea that anyone had ever had a bad dealing with Mr. Olney. Other than how long it takes him to complete orders.

When you build a cue for someone, it is their's unless they back out of the deal. PERIOD.

Anyone want to Buy the Best Hitting cue I have ever owned?
I have it listed in the for sale section.
I have a problem owning a cue from a cue maker who tells everyone that I missed buying MY cue by 19 minutes after waiting 3-4 years for it, WITH NO WARNING.

Sure I'll buy it!

I'll buy it.

Wait on me. I'll be there Thursday or Saturday or Sunday or Monday or . . .

How long do you intend to beat this dead horse?

Hu

Only if I die first!

Sold. Or are you going to back out?

Nope, I'll buy the cue if I don't die first. Some Thursday or Saturday or Sunday or Monday or any other day but Friday I will show up looking for my cue. I never said it would be next week. Send me your current address by PM or post it here. Be sure to keep me aware if your address changes, it may take me awhile to get around to picking up my cue. I have family business to take care of first.

You are obligated to hold the cue until I get there now because you did say we had a deal.

Sure., hold your breath. It will be waiting for you.

Thanks!

Thanks! It looks like a nice cue and they are reported to play great!

Being a man of your word I know I can count on the cue being there when I get around to coming for it. If you insist I will defraud paypal as you request when the time comes, but I prefer to pay cash or just pay the paypal fees myself.

I don't blame you..
I got rid of all my Olney's..

Over the last 6 years I've been offered a lot of Olney's in trade, but I always
declined laughing my ass off...

I thought my situation was bad.. I paid Jeff 5300.00 upfront for Custom orders, and
didn't get 1 of my orders..

However Jeff did have time to build 11-12 extra cues during this time frame, and offered those to me to purchase (what a great guy), and I bought them...

You ask yourself... Why wouldnt Jeff want to work on my cues that were already PRE-PAID for?

Well you have to understand Jeff's business plan personally tailored for me..

1) Ignore the orders I paid for..
2) Concentrate on building extra cues..
3) Call me, tell me about the cues, and extract full payment upfront (again), and deliver these cues in a 1-2 month period..
4) Hope that I don't build a resistance to the nuthugging Olney dust, and
figure out what's going on...

It took 2 years for me to realize what was going on..

GLWYS..

Exactly

A better explanation from Olney would have been "I am sorry, I tried to contact you, someone offered a boat load of money for the custom I built you so I sold it. I hope you understand. I will start another custom for you right away, let me know what you want, you will have it in 6-8 weeks at no charge".

By far the most fair and logical response on this thread to get the OP the cue he has been waiting for, and at least an honest response by the cue maker who sold a custom cue that should not have even been offered to anyone else in that 4 day period even if you take the cue maker at his word from his own posts on the situation...
