==============

Well to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results is the definition of insanity ,, so let's hope the results from at least from a viewer stand point is different ,,one things for sure its a sold out event so from that stand point it's a success
and certainly with a good product can gain at the gate , the same thing can be said from a viewer stand point be it online or recorded TV
Pool enthusiast want pool to jump into primetime it's along way from that , but if it's properly marketed with reasonable expectations it can be marketable to a smaller market ,, you have to crawl before you can walk. ,

Meanwhile the Petula will say we need to do the same thing again next year. "It takes time."

A "bad roll" or unintended outcome

I don't recall the rolls ever deciding the Mosconi. By all means, if you can offer an example of a year in which this was the case, I'm listening.

The Mosconi Cup is a marathon, not a sprint. Winning eleven matches before the other guys do is tough action, and a couple of rolls here and there aren't likely to be the difference.

sjm,

I am not talking about a bad roll due to poor table mechanics, or issues of that effect. I am talking about a bad roll in the sense that the CB or OB lands at an unintended spot because of an unintended incident, ( like a ball getting in the way that was not seen prior to shooting the shot). This happens all the time in safeties and bank shots.

Here's an example from MC 2010 with 2 of the better shotmakers in matchplay. Souquet just nudges the 8-ball coming off of a rail while playing safe. That hit changed the CB path down toward the center of the table instead of down the left side, leaving the OB (2 ball) safely in front of other balls at the bottom of the table.Instead, the CB travels down the middle of the table at slower speed due to the hit on the 8-ball. CB stops in the open (sell-out) Deuel capitalises on the "bad roll," and gets out.

go to 21:23 if it does not open there.

Tournaments are indeed marathons, but short matches are more like sprints for top players.

(sry for late reply,..... I still work for a living.)

Thanks for sharing this. Yes, a single roll will decide a short race more often than a long race, just as you've shown.

I just can't understand why it seems to be so popular on AZ to bash our team and our players. If you wake up and you aren't on that roster then I'm not sure what you think isn't all that relevant. Opinions are free I know. If they play and they lose, so be it. There can only be one winner and at that level it doesn't come easy for either side. And it's my opinion that the song, Downtown, sucks!

Well said, and I agree on both points. :grin-square:

Sorry JoeyA sometimes I can't help myself. :grin-square:

P.S. Thanks Spartan !

I like this. :D:D:D

They will say, "I am proud of the USA Mosconi Cup Team. They started the job, looked well doing it and I look forward to next year's improvements."

I think our team has a much better chance to win than most people are reckoning. This Mosconi, I believe, is up for grabs. Just four weeks away --- you can practically taste it.

Let the games begin.

Cracked me up. Love Petula's Downtown
