Ki-Tech tip question

I'm wondering which one to put on my cue. I usually play with a Kamui Brown Hard tip. I switch them out about every 3 to 4 months. I like them when they are brand new, after a couple months I feel they looks their play.

So, i purchased a starter pack, got a Medium, Medium-Hard, and Hard. For those who have experience with this tips could you suggest which one might play most closely to a new Kamui Brown hard?

thanks,

Try the medium first........

If you ever played with the old LaPros, this tip plays like the best LaPro you ever put on your cue.

it keeps it's shape pretty good. It just needs a little rounding of the tip with the first couple weeks of play. Then your good to go.

I've had the same one onfor about 5 months now and it plays real good.

Won 2 tournaments with it just before my knee replacement 3 weeks ago.

It won't over spin the ball yet you can get allot of spin when you need it with your stroke.

But you need to put it on and cut it down to size with a razor blade. Then I use a small block of woos and some 320 sand paper to finish the sides. Burnish the sides with a piece of card board after you wet it a little. You don't want to compromise the structure of the leather. Too much force other than a razor can ruin the tip real quick just like with the old LaPros.

Your cue ball control will also be more consistent. No accidental English to throw the shot off or the shape.

Good Luck..........

I can't tell you how it compares to the Kamui, but Geno is probably right about going with a Medium. Simply because you'll be in the middle. So, you'll either be right on, or at least know which direction to go.

FWIW, I've been using a Ki-Tech Hard for the last 1 1/2 years and it's AMAZING! Nothing else hits like it. I think I'm at about 8 months on this particular go-round and I have lots of life left. I've definitely put in lots of table time too. Anywhere from 10 hours on a light week to 25 hours or so on heavy ones.

Is the Ki-Tech tip the new go to tip now days?
Yes, yes they are. Me and TheRenfro haven't always seen eye to eye, but I've got to give credit where credit is due. He has produced a fantastic tip. I'm using a soft on my snooker cue at the minute and I'm waiting for my pool cue to come back with the Ki-Tech soft on. I've never used a tip that requires such little effort to move the CB. Make for a cleaner hit on those firm screw shots because you don't have to hit the ball anywhere near as hard. And if you want, you can generate crazy amounts of spin when you fancy really getting into the shot. I've tried it out on my pool table, 9mm tip should mushroom hitting pool balls about but I've not had any mushrooming at all from the soft. I use the back of a sand paper sheet to burnish the sides of my tip with a tiny bit of moisture. Works wonder on the Ki-Tech tips.

All in all, I'd say they're the best tips for snooker and pool on the market at the moment.

It is for me.
It is very easy for me to have a tip installed.
I've tried a number of layered tips. One was so bad I cut it off my shaft after only a few hours play.
I like the hard tip. In the world of tips I would say it's more like a medium hard.
Everyone that has tried my cue with the hard tip likes it.

3 cheers for the Ki-Tech "Hard" as well!! Even with my laminated mass produced Low Deflection shaft it absolutely "Sings" when I put a good stroke on the cue ball with relative light grip hand. It will spin the ball when you need to, but I'm focusing more on getting shape on the right side of the next ball and focusing LESS on the "hero" carnival shots that keep you from running racks. Those shots are more suitedto Artistic Pool I think lol. (The best players never need a lot of sidespin for shape)

I sent my SW back to Laurie for refinishing and sent two Ki Tech tips (medium) with the cue for them to install. I cannot believe how awesome my cue plays now.. They shaped the tip to the radius of a dime (and I am used to the Willard nickel radius) and I cannot believe how easily I can move whitey around the table.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good tip tool I can purchase to maintain the dime shape for these tips?
