Right now the For Sale section is a joke

So I posted a case for sale earlier this morning and it still hasn't been populated into a new thread in the W/FS section. It's over in the Panjo section though. Why do some items generate a new FS notification thread and some don't? Anyone ?????? :(

This! I had the same problem. My bump never even made it to the first page.

Lol don't you worry about who I vent my frustration towards.

Ebay is not a forum, it's not a community, it's a pure e-commerce site for people to buy and sell things. As I understand it, the FS forum on AZB is for members of the AZB community to buy/sell/trade to other members. It's not meant to be a commercial website, even if many individuals do approach the volume of commercial sales on the FS forum.

Most forums have a separate section for vendors who are also sponsors, and members who might have a used item or two to sell every once in a blue moon. No one wins when the two are mixed together.

And yes, the rules need change...but the people who have no common decency in listing dozens of separate threads and bumping them all at once need to be called out for what they are: inconsiderate, selfish douchebags. Nothing personal.

When you call somebody who is completely innocent a selfish douchebag then yes I will take note of who you are venting your frustration towards.

What do sellers do on ebay? They sell a product. What do people do here? They sell a product. That particular sub forum is essentially e-commerce.

If somebody bumps a thread more than once every two days they have broke the rules. If somebody bumps separate threads once every two days they are working within the parameters that have been defined. Same goes for the number of threads they are creating. How can that be douchy or selfish if the site was designed to allow this?

Maybe you should take your high almighty attitude someplace else. You are not the police and if anything you are the one acting douchy.

I have to say...I just don't like the whole "For Sale" setup at all. I am probably in the silent minority though. Now I log on once a day...seems like much more work even to sell something. :(

I suggested a few months ago allowing bumps in the for sale section but requiring a percentage drop in price.

To me, just my opinion, the wanted/for sale section was clogged with overpriced stuff which got bumped frequently but not sold - because it was overpriced. Those items were pushing other items off the page.

Sounds good in theory, but how is that going to work in practice?

Who would decide value?

I haven't been in WFS in a couple of weeks. Sounds like everyone needs to hit Mr. Howerton with their grievances and get this fixed.

bump

I've got a nice Gilbert for sale,1st bump made it to the 2nd page, since then its not made it past the 5th page and I haven had 1 person ask about it in a week........better the old way I think. little fats

****** I agree ****** it sucks :frown:

Cues

Loophole is creating an alias or having a buddy or buddies type "nice cue" "Cool cue ws" "this is a steal" every few hours to bump it.

I think your suggestions added that only the OP can post in the thread fixes the problem, move the default back to last post rather than when the thread started, only 1 thread of fs items ( You can list multiple cues/ items in your thread ) made in the last say 30 days.?

If an item doesn't sell in 30 days the thread should still be able to be out there with the OP also being able to make a new thread.

Just my .02 on the subject.

No offence but I have seen some cues that I would just drool over, some of these cues are very nice.

I was happy to say nice cue or adopt me
I also know some buyers and sellers that are so honest its incredible, and I have no problem saying that in a reply either.

I liked that fact that at one time we had the freedom to say this person is a honest seller., to actually let people know , and back one another.

Why not have 2 WFS section, one section you can only bump every 2 days, the other section let it be a free for all. except you cannot list your cue in both sections at the same time.

I feel like I have been micro managed

FWIW, I think they could have solved the issues in the For Sale Forum with two changes. One, create a separate tab for the dealers/flippers and one for the occasional sellers/traders. Two totally different kind of sellers involved, logical to have two different forums/tabs to accommodate it.

Second, allow bumping every 48 or 72 hours and set it up where the bump only occurs when the OP initiates it. That would allow anyone and everyone who wants to comment on a particular thread to do it until their hearts content without unnecessarily bumping that thread back to page 1.

If AZ wants to charge a % for listing a for sale, that's fine by me. I suspect that may be a problem as it potentially creates liability. Plus, they'd either have to rely on an honor system (which obviously will only work to a degree) or they would have to implement some type of ecommerce set up. They could even require a Gold Membership to list something for sale. That's not much money and would possibly decrease the number of scumbags trying for a quick hit and run screw job on someone.

All this is great conversation but I am guessing they are committed to this new path, it is unlikely to change.

Yep, professional flippers and obvious business get their own category "Retail"... Different catogories from cues to, accessories, tables, cases, services... Maybe for non retail posts after 10 for sale threads in a given year you are moved to retail for all remaining for sale threads and charged a retail listing fee..... You can't directly post in the retail thread unless you pay a yearly fee.... 1 thread per week for non retail posters... Only members who have more than 500 posts can use the non retail for sale section ( has to have a "Busboy" clause for those who post tooo much too fast, Sorry Busboy ) .... Get "involved" on the site or go somewhere else... There are many other ideas out there I'm sure...

What's happening is making it hard to even want to come here to look...

Like the title says... Right now the for sale section is a joke. Gotta agree, there's nothing new lately and I guess I'll support online retail sites in canada like Manningcues.com
