Wanted / For Sale Forum Activity Has Slowed Down Like Molasses.....

I think the way the ForSale forum is now is a great thing

I agree with you (for the most part) and suspect it will
be more "user friendly" in the future, when the bugs
are worked out. I actually check the W//FS forums
more, since the change. The continuous rule abuses
were completely out of hand. Something had to be done.
We should be thankful for what we have ... Free Listings!

Many are starting to take advantage of Other outlets and social media...that said AZ will do what it wants for its own agenda and though it will affect many now, in the long run won't hurt the site at all... I personally won't use it like I did in the past but I'm just one little fish. Easily replaced...

In 5 years there will be another change for the ultimate benefit of the business that many will complain about that will fall on deaf ears once again and like I eluded to before, rightfully so... Business don't survive because of what they do for you, They survive on what they do for themselves.... Sad but true.. Unless you're the business.. :o
I agree places like facebook and ebay are slowly taking business from AZ one reason I think why is the lack of ridicule on other sites such as ebay ( although I hate ebay) u can't get on there description and run down their product like u can on AZ and worst part is it seems to come from the respected dealers on AZ seem to do the most bad mouthing. It was getting to the point if u mispelled a word somebody would comment haha but seriously I slowed down selling a couple months ago decided might get back into it. So I posted a 6 point 4 veneers sugartree ( been on AZ for several years and I had never seen one from eric with more than one veneer) so in my title I wrote "monster rare sugartree" Well what do u know my title must have offended a pretty big cue dealer I wont mention a name cause I feel I have little more class than the person in question. But here is what gets me the dealer comments on my thread I ignore it but others dont and they call him out well now dealer replys to every comment on my thread bumping it about 6 times in one day (which is against the rules but of course nothing will happen to this cue dealer since he is a big dealer.) And this guy didnt stop there he had to add a comment to his own thread regarding my product ( totally classless) Its examples like this I have seen all over AZ and talked to several up coming cue salesman who try to get started only to be run down by these big dealers. I thought this was a community where people help one another but doesnt feel that way anymore it feels more like a war zone to sell cues

Side note: I don't mean all the big cue dealers as matter of fact itzell101 is one of biggest sellers I see on AZ and even better he is a very nice man who will answer all ur questions and give u his expertise advice just to help u out its people like him and few others cleightonroca is another very nice guy who make AZ a community to want to join. If people handeled their business like them AZ would be much nicer place

For sale section changes do not bother me that much. I don't go there often now. I do not like seeing the whole front page taken up by 1 seller, it seems too much like going to a cue dealer, if I want to see cue adds I will go to Seyberts of something similar. I am looking for sellers that maybe bought a new cue and are selling their old one now. There are some AZB "dealers" that I wont even bother opening up their ads anymore, either because history tells me everything they have is $3k or more, which is fine if you want to pay that much for a piece of wood with a certain desirable name, or because I have seen them list so many cues they usually don't have any that interest me. I have bought several cue from the For Sale section and will probably buy more regardless of the format, I just don't use everyday.

Notice the extreme drop in "Nice cue" and "Great seller here" posts now that they don't bump the thread...

Funny how things work... It's the same folks doing the same thing. I applaud AzB for making changes, but I strongly disagree with using Panjo.

Other sub forums have seemed to have slowed down too.

You are correct. When I got home from work today I looked at AZ and there were only 5 new pages of new stuff. For the past year or more there have always at least been 9 or more pages when I get off work. The past week or so has been very slow around here.:(

But from what I used to see, they weren't 9 "new pages". They were all the same cues bumped back to the top with frivolous comments that no one wanted to read.

Bingo. No matter what anyone said, it always was about bumping for friends and was ridiculous.

I decided to go look through the old threads that people were bumping. One member posted his Szamboti for sale in 2012 and was still bumping it, up until the recent format change.

If you haven't sold it in 2 years, you might be asking too much LOL

I posted a for sale item here today to see how it works. It was fairly easy, except they really want everyone to use PayPall, which I hate due to their seller-unfriendly terms of service.

As a window shopper I like the 'photos with small blurb' on the front page and the ability to see 144 images at a time. However, the seller's title is in small gray type which does nothing to make it visible.

I also did not see a preview feature when setting up the ad. I've had to edit my ad a couple of times so far to fine tune it.

will know more if my W1P and SMS books get a bite.

...just discovered they truncate the title on the front page without letting you know it is going to be shortened... not nice.

yeah, it's funny how suddenly nobody wants to comment on the monster cues now?? Wow, what a coincidence ;)

They know they can't help their buddy, so they don't waste their time...... and that is why some of the mega cue sellers HATE the new format.

I have not posted anything on the W/FS forum since it has gone over to the new system but I couldn't help but notice how apparently the change has had a big cooling effect on activity.

There are threads right now, for instance, still on page 1 with timestamps from yesterday at 4 am. That's 29 hours and still on page 1.

So I'm wondering, is it the complexity of using the Panjo system?

Is it a general lack of interest in buying/selling?

Are sellers seeking oither outlets like ebay and facebook?

Something else, maybe?

Let me know what you all think.

I have some good stuff to sell and am not keen on getting into a big learning curve, especially if there's not many people visiting our For Sale section these days.

Thanks.

best,
brian kc

Going to try the advice given here.

Scott <<== kinda slow
