No matter how it would have ended, this was a fantastic match.

6 straight break and runs! There was like 2 missed shots the entire match. John missed one on that long shot along the rail, but he didn't have it easy getting to that shot in the first place. And Mark missed that long combo on the 9 ball... nothing easy about that shot either.

John is shooting so good! And great attitude. Looking forward to seeing more from him!

Absolutely spectacular match, can't wait for Darren vs Shane for today's finale! Shane's gonna be going in all warmed up off this next doubles match, we got this! GO USA!

Great match,! Am I the only one that thought John might duck on the rail shot that was (I think) the only ball he missed? It's hard to 2nd guess anything about that match, but that seemed to be one of 2 parts of the match up the euros consistently came out on top in.

Safety play both when and how executed and lagging!

Overall I'm thinking pretty dang impressive!
 
John has really been on his game past few weeks can't wait for day 2 go USA
 
I didn't want to create a new thread and since this thread pertains to my specific question, I'll just post it here. Why wasn't Mark Gray called for an illegal break during the 3rd rack against John Schmidt. The only ball that crossed the head string was pocketed (which I thought only counts as 1 ball as it pertains to the illegal break rule) and only one other ball was pocketed on the break.

However, the referee didn't call the illegal break and Mark Gray continued to shoot.

I don't believe they are using the 3 balls over the head string. Johnnyt
 
John was magnificent, and Mark Gray was nearly as good.

The point John delivered was a very hard point to obtain and made him the star of Team USA for day one.

Wishing John continued success.

They are not using illegal break rule. If they did there will be many illegal breaks like with recent WCOP
