Do you guys find that if you adjust your grip up\down and deploy a slip stroke with backhand English, adjusting for swerve (but not squirt) that the results are preferable than when you approach the same shot with a firm (but loose) grip accompanied by cuing lower (but maybe higher) on the cue ball?

Follow up question, would a low deflection shaft or tip help?

I've a V grip with front and back hand english allows me get an accelerating stroke while my dominant eye is in the right position. A standard shaft is better with a low deflection tip and Kamui chalk if your front foot is more closed to the shot line, for me.

Best,
Mike

Hard question to understand. Be that it may, you should not change grip, or elevation unless you have too. You always have to account for squirt, swerve, and throw no matter what for each and every shot.

LD shafts (low squirt) helps with shots that does not involve "english stun" due to less aim adjustment, HD shafts help for shots that has english stun shots due to less aim adjustment.

I play BHE a lot and cue grip position is not a variable.... though, a shorter grip may lead some to hit the same shots with more speed, in which case there is less swerve, hence, the effective pivot point (which takes into account swerve on soft to medium speed shots over distance) would be a bit shorter on some shots.

The answering posts in this thread may get it running rampant & even get other threads opened.

Maybe someone should 'come clean' before it gets out of hand.

Good one though.

Figure out what works and do that. There is no right way only what works

Right!

I read this last night and it made perfect sense, but I was high as a kite. This morning I read it while I was straight and I thought, "Oh, a big goof. Very funny!"

Now serious players are giving serious responses, so I don't know what to think. I do know I no longer understand it, so I'll just repeat Randy G's response:

"NO! NO! (bad poster)". Lol

Low deflection tip? I think I've seen it all now folks.

Practice hitting balls. Quit worrying about how you're hitting them and just hit them.

LD tips exist in the mind of one particular poster, along with much else that is most definitely true and not in the least bit made up drivel.

I'm not going to pay attention to this post unless there's something about gambling and how great blind billy goat compton was at one pocket in the 1930s.

Thank you folks for your kind responses. I am a better player than I was just two or three days prior. There is one truth that we all can cling to: cucumbers taste better pickled.
