Mosconi Cup USA Selection changed.

That much I did research.
I did not count this as a premier coaching job for reasons why. The players on that team spot him the 5 out, he didn't mold them.

Lindenwood sophomore Landon Shuffett broke a 2-year old record of 117, set by his teammate Sean Sommers in 2012. But Landon's 118 was short-lived, as freshman Tanner Nickels recorded the first perfect score in UMTPC history just moments later.

I am not witch hunting, if there are going to be claims of greatness I want to see the proof. If he took a team of beginners or hackers I would say that was great work.
I give him 1 star.

Our problem is the overall crappy attitude we as Americans have.
Just look around at what we are breeding as a nation, a bunch of self centered, self entitled, Spoiled, disrespectful, twitter, facebook, look at me; look at me I am special attitudes.

The good ole kick in the butt or slap in the mouth days for being disrespectful days are over.

Had you ever heard of Tanner Nickels? Can you tell me what titles previously he won? Would you know who he was if he was sitting next to you in a movie theatre?

Oh when the US brought the 'team of greatness' to the Mosconi two years ago, they won 2 matches. Seems odd, cause according to you, it's easy to win with the best players. And maybe the US couldn't beat Europe but surely their greatness would have gotten them more than 2 matches.

Lastly, Mark has coached many pros or players into being pros. Young players such as Bergman, Rousey, Fischer and some gal named Jeanette Lee, to just name a few.

I know more than you think, he is overated.
Coaches coach players play, if you watched the event and think he was doing a good job coaching, watch it again. Vince Lombardi is rolling over in his grave.

Never said it's easy to win with the best players.

Did you see everything that happened, or just what the cameras showed you?

Did you see what was going on in the "locker room?"

How do you know Mark wasn't doing his coaching in between matches?

I never saw Johan do any coaching during matches, but I guess he's overrated too.

Im sure it is not a popular opinion but i dont think EITHER coach makes a difference worth noting. If the USA had Johan, does anyone think we would have won the last 2-3 years? Would we have won an additional match even?

Maybe but Mark is still better coach than those big star player captains like Archer, Hall

Johan may win couple more points but him being US Captain and beating Europe is long shot. :D

You already showed that you don't know anything except how to log into a computer site and spout off about what you don't have a clue about.

My news years resolution is that I don't argue with idiots and I'm mad at myself for even responding to you.

I guess I did ask the right question, as you answered it.

Thank You, pro9dg :D

Sorry I didn't get back sooner but I was gone all day yesterday. However I still have no answer from Luke. I think he is running the World Championship of Ping Pong at the moment (seriously) so he is probably busy but I will let you know when I get clarification.

On the other side of the US Team eligibility thing. I said in my ABR interview with Jayson Shaw he could make history. If he qualifies this year to play in Mosconi Cup he will play for Europe. Now he has a wife and kid here in the USA and looking to eventually get US Citizenship he could end up playing for the US Team. I say that because it is common that sports figures change citizenship in order to represent a different country. Lennox Lewis was born in Canada I think but the career opportunities were in the UK and he then represented Great Britain.

So I guess what your saying was the players could have won with out Vince

Thanks Mark,
Charlie Williams has played for the U.S. team and he was born in Seoul, Korea, as was pointed out to me.
So if Jason becomes a citizen I don't see why he couldn't play for the U.S. It's not like we don't need the help. :o

Hey,
Maybe we can even get pro9dg to be a co-captain, as he always seems to have a lot to say about the U.S. Team.
At least he could make sure our players get to the practice room on time, that is of coarse if he and all the other
co-captains and the captain aren't to busy with other things.

Yeah, I was stuck to remember a US player not born in the USA I guess Charlie was too obvious. I think Jayson Shaw will bring another level of excitement to the event nomatter who he plays for. He beat I think Mika race to 9 in 21 minutes I think. Fun to watch fast paced run outs (For me anyway) Nothing like being in the zone and freewheeling.
As far as Pro0dg goes. Although I don't agree totally with his comments on the US team from last year but hey it's ok to disagree right? I do have to come to his defense from just my own perspective. Doug is a well respected member of the pool community more overseas than here in the USA but not limited to just Europe. He actually does have a clue on what he is talking about and has done many great things for pool internationally. I believe is was the founder of the GB-9 Tour but I could be wrong there. He has alot done everything he could to support the Mosconi cup team for Team USA which surprises me since he is British. Having said that and knowing we all have our opinions I really wish he had not said what he did about the USA team players. Just didn't seem right to me to defend Mark Wilson is one thing but to blame just about everyone else for anything that went wrong isn't cricket as they say. I will still support Doug Gordon and Team USA and Matchroom Sports however I possibly can.

Isn't Cricket... ...do they really say that ? :sorry:

PS. I never said he doesn't have a clue, however when he says
things like he did, that doesn't give him a free pass. Sorry ! :)

I didn't mean to imply that you said he does not have a clue. I was just stating that he does have a clue. Also I agreed what he said didn't give him a free pass with me either. I will call him out on his post but on the whole I will continue to support him. We all say thing that either we regret or came across wrong. Not sure if either of these apply in this case.

Jeanette Lee, Look up a guy named Gene Nagy before you think Wilson made her a champ. Surrounded by George Mikula, George San Souci, Ervolino, Robles and a few other notables. See Gene Nagy.

I guess Wilson taught her Straight Pool and 3 cushion also. Big Difference between training a champ and teaching someone how to stand.
I don't know anything I am probably making these names up. It might be possible I actually live and played the same pool scene, no way, could that be true?

If it's Kelly Fisher you are referring to let me know and I will bring you up to date on that also. I have a feeling you won't.

If you want to start name calling I can do that. I prefer to leave that to you and your maturity level. I recommend before you start slinging names look in the mirror, be careful the name might be staring you in the face.
Be careful with the name nut hugger, it runs rampant around here.
Have a great day, I'm done.

I am sure that there is a slew of people that Jeanette would credit with her success. Your original point was - what has Mark Wilson done. Call Jeanette and ask her if she gives any credit to her success to Mark.

Allison Fisher. Sorry for spelling her name wrong.

Carry on in your attack of a man you know nothing about.

bit OT:
Jeannette Lee just tried to work with as many as possible- that s what a player with highest ambitions has to do- to play with the best and to work with the best.
To name here just one or a few....would be right wrong imo. Anyway just "she" could do it :-)
i m pretty sure that almost every "champion" could name many persons who helped his game- or had influence.
