It makes no difference.
Tim,
Why not just address the OP's question? Why obfuscate? If BCAPL granted the league a "pass", why not just say so. If they didn't grant a "pass", why defend the league and question the questioner? With the incredible number of unknown keyboard jockeys on AZ, what's the difference if you know the OP's real name. Is his question valid or not? I've paid my $30 to sanction in two BCAPL leagues on separate coasts. I'd like to know the answer.
Lyn
As a complete outsider and observer, all I can say is this: God and heaven forbid anyone speak out against the great CSI on this forum. Seems some can do no wrong here
Chuck,
I'm not against CSI /BCAPL. Play in five or six sessions each year. The question the OP asked happens to be a subject I'm interested in. I call them as I see them. Also write quite a bit of positive feedback. No one, specially those in the billiard world are above reproach. No one.
Lyn
Tim,
Didn't Ozzy state he knew who the OP was but did not want to "out" him on a national website. Think this thread has become a discussion of semantics rather than the truth. And yes, I can handle the truth !
Lyn
Lyn, wasn't trying to mean you specifically, just calling out a faction of this forum. Some seem above reproach, while some seem fair game.
That is not an attack, Ozzy. I’m not sure how you read it as one. They are facts. It is not an opinion, they are facts.
I will reiterate… my team and I traveled very far for all of fall and winter to sanction for BCAPL events in accordance with your rules set forth in the BCAPL League Operator Manual, just as I’m sure nearly everybody sanctioning with the BCAPL does.
My involvement with the WSPA has nothing to do with my displeasure of reading how “leagues” are starting up and running one day “leagues”. One day sanctioning is a slap in the face to every BCAPL league that abides by your rules set forth in the BCAPL League Operator Manual. It is a slap in the face to ANY organized pool association, national or independent, for profit or not, that tries to promote league play.
You see the WSPA as a “competing organization” as you put it. We are not. Allowing one-day sanctioning undermines the growth of pool. You are now competing with yourself. Someone said it’s good that you are doing everything you can to get more bodies to your events. Sure, it is… but at the expense of the league structure? Didn’t Mark buy the “league” portion from the BCA and base an entire company on leagues?... He said it was a mistake that they sold it. You probably remember him saying that: it was during a CSI Podcast. Don’t lose sight of Mark’s goal of promoting league play by allowing one-day sanctions. It will cripple pool, and you know it.
Chuck,
Sorry. Guess my skin is getting thin again. Sometimes the truth hurts. Again, no one is above reproach. Especially on this forum. Wish more people would ask for the truth instead of the drivle we're provided.
Lyn
Wait. If the WSPA runs leagues in Wisconsin and the BCAPL runs leagues in Wisconsin, can you explain how you are not competing?
He should want to "out" himself. Ozzy just offered someone who runs a competing league airtime to discuss issues. I'm sorry but if you are not jumping at that opportunity, something smells.
Seriously, if labrat gave 2 $hits about this being addressed, he would have called Mark and Ozzy to get this straightened out rather than running straight to the internet. It is widely known that all you have to do is call and Mark will discuss issues with hours on end.
A wise man once said: "I do not consider the other league organizations as competition, rather I see them as associates."
Tim,
I spent facetime with Mark last week in Vegas. Really enjoy visiting the CSI office when I'm in Vegas. Great people! Sometimes I'm welcomed with smiles and happy faces. Sometimes not so much.
Hate the void called the internet. Even the phone. Too impersonal. Perhaps the OP is the same way. Who knows. Not me. Unfortunately, the way the OP chose to present his problem is todays way of business. Take it to the internet. Put it on youtube, facebook, twitter, etc. Enrage the masses. As they say, "in war, the first victim is the truth".
Lyn
if you actually believed that, you and labrat would've been on the phone with Mark and Ozzy as opposed to here.
i think what most people on here who have no problem with what transpired here is the fact that this incident is apparently against bcapl league policy.
i would be pissed also if i followed league policy also ...taking time each week from my family for 2 months to qualify for a tournament and guys from the next town over were able to circumvent league policy and qualify in a day or 2.
i am curious to know what erroneous comment ( according to csi ozzy ) the op made if it is in fact against league policy to qualify in a day or 2.
then again this may be another of of those situations where bcapl does not care how the lo's run their leagues as long as their dues are paid.
It doesn't matter who I am or what I have posted before. I bring this to this forum as the best way for others to know what is going one in WI. This is not the 1900s where they use the pony express to pass news across the country. We are in the 2000s and we use social media to let others know what is going one in the world. A call to Mark or Ozzy does not bring this issue to light with others across the country. A podcast does not need to be done. Why? There is nothing to debate. Notice he has not answered the questions. Nothing I have said is a lie. Again, answer the questions Ozzy instead of trying to attack the posters. This is not a fair practice to others that follow your written rules. Just think of the players from WI coming to play nationals and all they had to do was play one night to qualify, while all others had to play 8 weeks of play. Some think, this is not a bad idea, but yes it is, It undermines the league system and the pool rooms/taverns that make money with pool players in their businesses for 8 plus weeks. This is who is losing out on this. CSI is getting their sanction fee for every player regardless.
