Congrats Alex.
Efren might be a senior citizen, but he's still one of the best all-around player there is today.

Congrats to Alex. His final few One Pocket matches were nothing short of beautiful!!

Unfortunately, the Louie Roberts award banner had to be taken down. The Bigfoot is now the 5th. Alex needs to win that next year.

Congrats to Alex on winning MOT, 1 hole, and 9 ball. Nice pay day for 8 days work. Johnnyt

Alex hasn't won the 9-ball yet. The final three are Sossei, Pagulayan, and Kiamco (only Kiamco is still undefeated).

WOW, 1st in all three games. As Earl would say, "how strong is that"...

Alex was clearly the best player at the DCC this year (or at least the player playing the best). It was a real pleasure to watch him live and when not playing on the TV table - he's the same when playing with or without a TV audience.

As a good example of his class, he was playing Sossei towards the last few matches and after he got to the hill Sossei stormed back, before missing a fairly easy 4 ball. As Sossei looked stunned, Alex didn't jump out of his seat, but waited for Jeremy to collect himself and return to his seat before getting up to run out. Just a tiny bit of class without the world watching.

Alex was clearly the crowd favourite, in the 9 ball finals, and I was pulling for him, but nice to see Kiamco get a title.

May I ask why the Louie roberts award had to be taken down? I am just recently paying attention to the Derby, previously i simply ordered dvdsfrom accustoms. I know a little about St. Louie Louie but would appreciate a recap or direction where I could reference his death as well as the situation at the DCC.
Thanks,
Phil

The casino was not happy about the overt bending of the contract of non-sanctioned side gambling. Gambling between two players is fine with the Gaming Commission, but rail betting is illegal. The Louie Roberts award and the subsequent article writing by David Hill (ESPN Grantland online magazine, IIRC) was seen as advertisement and glorification of a direct violation of the agreement.

The casino obviously had let this slide a bit, but the national and global article unfortunately forced them into action. The casino itself isnt the strong arm that the Gaming Commission is.

Freddie <~~~ as my little understanding of it

I still think the prior banners could have been left, or just call it the Louie Roberts Entertainment Award
