I am not really sure how all this works or is supposed to work but my question is this. Is it customary to receive an email in the middle of the night that lets you know the money is there or would you get it during normal business hours? Just thinking maybe the bank does not have someone working on wire notifications at 3am. Maybe that's the hold up? Really trying to be positive and give a good reason that you don't have it yet. Anyone else know if you get emails on wire transfers and do they process them in the middle of the night?

it's 3:30pmEST. my bank, actually closes their wire transfers @ 4pm....
but i'm sure Barry & his A/P know this, cause they had it set to go on FRI.

should we move this to the Action Room?

Barry's bank would today, email & print him a confirmation of the wire SENT. Barry or his A/P department could then forward that documentation to Nam, via email. emails run in real time. so do phone calls to Vietnam.

It is 3:31 AM Tuesday in Vietnam but it is 3:31 PM Monday in the US. I think he should let me know when he finishes transferring the money to me. That way I can go to the bank and withdraw money in the morning when it is business hours. Otherwise, I will have to wait another day. Hope my explanation makes sense to you.

It's not uncommon if it's an international bank. The wire transfer desk is open 24 hours a day.

But banks execute a wire transfer immediately unless otherwise instructed to execute it at a specific time in the future.
 
I request Roberta to tell Barry to take picture of the payment slip in case we need verification of the bank about payer's information. And that also confirms money was wired already.

Good point. I think after all of this and if I were in Barry's position I would be asking for confirmation that it went and was received. Just to be sure nothing went sideways as things can from time to time but I think I would want to be on top of it. We are not hearing anything from the Austrians either.

i do not know about Asian transfers, but i can tell you that our transfers received from Canada & Italy, into the US bank account, are now taking 3 days to clear/release of funds. the banks claim it's for fraud protection reasons....but i think it's so that they get 3 days of interest. (and these are HSBC to HSBC transactions)

basically what i'm saying - don't plan on going to the bank today.
 
On the international wire transfer I did last week, I missed the cutoff time to have it transfer that day. BUT, I still did it, the bank just told me it would go on the next morning of US bank time. And, I got a receipt that I emailed to my supplier, so they could ship me my parts. (I have a prior relationship with this supplier in good standing, so they accepted the picture of the international wire transfer receipt as proof of payment).

Regardless, we are debating minutia. If Barry wired the money on Monday US time, it should get to Vietnam at the latest by Tuesday morning, US time, if Barry went to the bank in the late afternoon on Monday.

I'm betting there won't be any money in Quan Do's account anytime in February, unfortunately:(
