Is Darren Appleton the best All-around player ?

by youz calculations, then Earl is the best. By youz calculations Efren is the best, Shane won US Open how many times in a row. Listen Darren is good maybe even great but let's not start running off with the best in the world title again just cause some has a run. Some people are just too quick to hand out the title "just cause", if it's not Darren one time it's shane, when it's not Shane it Yo or one of those guys.

I always expect to see one of these threads when someone wins something big or shows out in a tourney.

Maybe even great? LOL.

Close but no cigar, Alex P is the best all around IMO. Hell if he just applied a little more practice time it wouldn't even be close. YMMV

People have been saying this about him for years and it hasn't happened. He's been bored with pool for quite some time.

The same thing can be said for Corey Deuel.

Neither player has taken the game as seriously as has Darren.

With Corey and Alex it's always IF only. With Darren there's no second guessing. His tournament record speaks for itself.

He's won everything... I'd say he's in the conversation.

And almost interesting that they were road partners for a spell...and ended up being great players whose interest our game could not hold.

Well everyone has an opinion but I could have sworn the title of this thread was best all around player. So let's look at the very recent DCC results.
Alex P
1. 1st in 1 pocket
2. 2nd in 9 ball
3. 3rd in 10 ball Bigfoot challenge
4. 1st Master of the table
$44,000 in total prize money for the event.
Not bad for someone bored with pool. Is this the be all end all, no it's not. But considering he finished no less than 3rd in every division but banks I'd say he's fairly well rounded. Just an observation.

Yes

Darren has won Tournaments in almost every category! Is it fair to say that he may be the most well-rounded,and dangerous Player overall,in the majority of Games? He has won a variety of Killer-Fields,all over the World!

He is in the Top 3 to 5 for Rotation (with SVB, Dennis, Alex)...back to back US Opens and a World 10 Ball Championship.

Top 3 to 5 in Straight Pool with World Title last year and runner up the previous year with a 200 and out run against Busty.

Top 1-3 in 8 Ball - His best game by far and I can't think of anyone better...so if he's anywhere around the top 25 in One Pocket then he would have to be considered the best "All-Around" player.

No other one player is among the top 5 in that many different disciplines.

Efren is a good 3-cushion player and also plays balkline (his favorite game) at a world-class level.

He won WPA World 10 ball championiship, with the 1st prize being $100.000.
He won WPA World 9 ball championship.
He won World Chinese 8 ball championship with the 1st prize being close to $100.000.
He won the last World 14.1 tournament.
He won US Opens.
He won several euro titles, world pool masters, several Mosconi Cups.

In my book he is the best all arround player.

i agree. add the fact that he travels a lot too and wins big in the international scene. talk about winning "all-around".

yes, he is. Please add/include the 'Gold Medal in World Games' to the above list.

I'd say Alex is Darren's equal in 9-ball and 10-ball. I give Darren the edge in straight pool, and Alex the edge in 1-pocket. So, who's better in banks?
