A nice pawn shop find...

I get lucky every couple years or so scouting the local pawn shops for cues. I believe most pawn shops are offering most of their cues through e-Bay now and the pickings have become rather slim lately. They had this cue priced at $79 but I couldn't resist dickering and bagged it for $60 out the door. The cue was well taken care of and is quite straight and has only a tiny bit of a roll and the condition of the butt is easily 90%+. Check out your local pawn shop and maybe you'll find a gem.

Good for you! I too am a pawn shop hound...3 Joss cues, 1 Perry Weston ivory pointer from the early nineties for 80 dollars, one Paul Dayton spliced ebony leather wrap for 40 bucks, and many more. Seek and ye shall find. Matt D.

Wow..

That pawn shop might not be there long because obviously they have no idea how to do research! An R9 for $60 is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

Congrats on a helluva nice score!

Agreed.

Even more discerning is that whoever sold the pawn shop that cue didn't know what they had and (based on the OP's purchase price) took less than $60 for an R9 Schon...

To the victor go the spoils.

Nice find, OP :)

I haven't found a deal in a pawn shop in many years. It would be strange for them to not do any research into what they are buying. Unless it is stolen the seller is going to be puffing up the value to them in the first place.

I don't even go to pawn shops anymore. If anything they over price everything. What cues I have seen in pawn shops in the past were price ridiculously high.
I like garage sales. Just last week I got a Craftsman/Atlas lathe model 101.2400 for $75.00. It is perfect. This was not early in the day either. It was sitting there for hours with no takers.

Yeaaaa.... I wish I could find a nice Pawn Shop Special like that.

Everything around here is Moo-Cheese or Loo-Casey's.

Where do you live that they don't have internet access?

Makes you wonder how much the poor slob got to pawn it.

No one who actually owned the cue would pawn it for what they must have paid for the cue. It would have to be stolen.

good point

True. Happy that the dirty theif got peanuts, sad for the player that had it taken.

Why does it have to be stolen?

Could very well be that some poor old bloke has passed away and his missus has sold the cue as there is no one to pass it down to.

Probably stolen though.

Nice, CONGRADS...! It's good to see people catch a break every now and then, I'm happy for ya!

Nicely done.

I found a cue at the pawnshop, looked nice, two shafts priced at $50 as an unmarked cue. I gave them $40 and left. I was driving, on my way to work, so I took a look at the unmarked cue, and noticed a familiar pantographed T and S. I smiled.
