Black-Balled

Somebody told me the other day that my tip was the flattest profile he had ever seen anybody play decently with.

Ted Harris did a tip for me once and it was so round, I couldnt make a ball for weeks.

Show you yours and I'll show me mine:

I actually prefer a pretty flat tip as well. I shape to a nickle after install and dont really mess with it from there.

i think its important to differentiate between
thin (how tip tip above the ferrule ) vs flat ( the curvature of the tip)
when discussing your thread about flat tips (which yours is black balled )
......
the cue ball is a sphere which has curved edges
a curved tip will give more accurate hits up and down and side ways along the vertical and horizontal axis

Looks perfect to me... If the tip I use even turns slight radius I quickly use my Mezz Tip Tool to get it back up like yours...

Here's typical for me. I think pretty similar to yours.

I shape them to a nickel when I get them, and let them shape themselves from there.

Hey BB
That tip looks like a MD. Mine looks almost identical, except I dress mine with a black sharpie on the side walls, makes it look fancy smancy.

I would say that what I have seen so far seems pretty normal shape wise. I normally keep mine to a dime radius or so. I have seen people that shape theirs so radically that I am not even sure how they get good contact on the cue ball because their tip is so rounded.

Looks like a milk dud

Is it? They get great reviews, wasn't my thing personally.

Nice Dawg Dud!

I'm the same way, I put mine on a few months ago and haven't scuffed or shaped it since, so it's looking pretty close to yours. Actually, I lost my bag of tip tools a while back and was concerned until I remembered I was using a Dawg Dud.

here is mine, it is much rounder than in the pic, I like super round tips :)

Taom tip installed yesterday on my break cue

Ki-Tech medium installed on 2nd shaft yesterday

A bit flatter on the break cue, and for the playing tip, I will see how it goes as is, but I will probably flatten it a smidgeon.
