Chalking Hand

Which hand do you use to apply chalk, your stroking or bridge hand? I use my dominant/stroking hand, but have noticed many use their bridge hand. Does it matter?

I never want chalk on my bridge hand, so I always chalk up with my right hand.
And I am right handed..................................
 
I only chalk with my bridge hand...it's the most efficient.
...and I don't want my other hand touching the shaft..it's sweatier.
 
Bridge hand. Hate getting chalk on my bridge hand, which then gets on my shaft, but it just feels so natural to me. I tried to switch for a while but it didn't take. I think stroking hand is best, but I've decided to stop fighting my natural tendency.
 
I just throw the cube of chalk on the floor and turn my cue upside down and rotate it until I smell smoke

Hey Mike, thats not very funny. I just replaced the third tip on a girls cue last week due to something like that.

She has one of those tip tools, you know the ones with the burnisher and ferrule destroyer on the end.

She drops it on the floor and proceeds to spin the cue in it like she is trying to start a fire.

Well, of course she keeps spinning tips off the cue.

The last time, I told her was the last tip she was getting for free if she continued to shape her tip this way.

I asked her if I could show her how to use that tool properly. No, was her answer. Some people never learn
 
Stroke hand (right hand.) Other than making a decent bridge, my left hand is pretty useless. It can hold the left side of a sandwich and maybe sometimes scratch an itch but that's about it.
 
There's Rafael Martinez who chalks with both hamds before every shot. Wonder how many cubes he goes thru in a week.

Yes, and he switches hands several times when he's pondering a difficult shot.
And, yes, he grinds the hell out of a cube of chalk.
 
I use my stroking hand which according to John Schmidt is wrong. He said that you should always use your bridge hand to chalk up b/c it keeps your stick on the line of the shot while you're chalking and looking at your shot line simultaneously. It makes sense but feels too awkward to me. If you use your stroking hand to chalk you will end up pointing your stick in a completely different direction than your shooting line which may make you line up incorrectly when you get down to shoot.

Or just chalk up before you even get in line.
 
I have no idea.

I switch it up I guess.

Am I the only one here who doesn't mind chalk getting on either of my hands?? I don't get that. I play pool. A lot of it. I will get chalk on my hands. What's the problem??

Just my questions..
