If you ever catch me wearing a pool glove...

I agree that it's pretty immature to bash someone else's preference. The major reason I wear a glove is because I burned myself breaking a few times. The glove eliminates all that friction, and like someone else said here, it keeps everything consistent between weather conditions. All I have to worry about at that point is the table conditions. If you don't want to wear one, then don't fuggin wear one! How difficult is this? What's next, chalk bashing?

You usually make good posts, but this isn't one of them. I've gotten friction burns on the knuckle of my thumb from the cue going through my bridge. Hence, the glove.

I had a really expensive Jump Break cue that had a metal joint. I would get these burns all the time because the joint wasn't 100% flush, it was a serious drawback with that particular cue. I had to use a glove with that cue, no way around it. I've never gotten them with a non-metal joint cue.

I have never burnt myself breaking. Altho, on those nasty Valley tables with the ribbed metal on them, I have peeled a bit of skin off the knuckles on occasion.
 
I started using a glove in the early 90's when Carl Blakeman got the 1st patent on the gloves. I got teased a lot but living just blocks from the beach it really helped with humid conditions. Now that arthritis has affected my ability to have a really tight closed bridge the fabric thickness helps out some but I find myself using an open bridge more and more and the glove helps give smoothness and consistency to my stroke. Still use the Blakeman glove as it is the tightest fitting glove I have ever tried.
 
I wear a glove all the time, and carry one in my brief case when traveling.

There are several reasons:
They can be cheap: cost about 50 cents on EBay
Even the cheap ones work and last forever.
You don't need talc. My pool hall does not offer it.
You get a consistent feel in all weather conditions
New Orleans is humid 80% of the time
They keep the shaft looking like new
They keep the table cloth clean
If you are away from home and ever have to play with a house stick, the glove is awesome.

Why wouldn't you use a glove? You think they are too silky? That's the key to their design. I think you have the problem.

Almost all sports have a glove or a glove option. Golf, football, baseball, etc. and each is designed to suit their purpose.

I can't believe the glov has been around for more then 20 years and people still act so silly about it lol even after some of the best players In the world wear one including svb and earl Strickland.

There are a lot of benefits to having a glove in your case. Conditions change and stickiness doesnt help good play. Its not all about the manliness.

How about wearing an apron?

VNEA gave away one to each participant in the early 90's in Vegas or Reno.

Why do you think that? There's plenty of great players using an open bridge entirely and they get great accuracy on all shots.

Also, there have been many world-class players who played lights out with a very open loop bridge. Do you think this guy suffered any from his loop bridge?

I like my hand panty is it ok with you ( krepal85 ) if I wear glove. Also I like merrell shose can I wear those and polo shirts and slacks. I'm knida fat and lose cloths are comfortable. ktrepal85 I would hate to not be acceptable.

I would rather have an opponent wear a glove than use excessive amounts of chalk any day. Cant stand it when the table and rails are covered. Here in alabama carrying a glove in the bag is very common due to the consistent humidity
