There goes a good thread.

Ouch...that must hurt...Great story Randy. I have a similar story but the vehicle in question was not nearly as valuable.

Not to detract from your point, but Ford really wasn't all that interested in beating Ferrari until Enzo backed out of selling his company to them. Henry's ego prevailed and history was born with Shelby and the GT40 program.

Here is a tearjerker for you. Along the 118 for years and years sat this really cool looking car, covered in dust and in a state of disrepair, that I begged my dad to buy. I was no older than 10 and it wasn't until much much later that I realized what I was coveting. My dad won't talk about it.........

Here is a good picture of what it looked like....

I hate to ask this but, I must.
What was it selling for and how much is it now ?

I have no idea, but in the late 70's and early 80's cars that fetch high 6 figures these days were very very plentiful.

Depending on it's actual racing heritage, that car(I can't remember the actual number), is worth millions.

The number 40 in the pic I posted sold for 11,000,000.00 about 3 years ago.

DAMN!
That'll buy a nice boat, house and cue shop .
Even in your area. :eek::D

This thread is an exercise in futility.

What have you gotten out of this thread other than learned who has more time on their hands than they sometimes know what to do with?
Got a mirror handy! :)
What is there to learn in a thread about a thread that has vanished due to personalities clashing?
I wish it were that simple. You obviously missed the part that pertained to wild ethnic slurs.
Other than learning that a router crashing into a headstock or whatever makes a beautiful, colorful fireworks display; what else have you learned?
It's all about an education. Sit back and digest.
So, in conclusion what "exchange of ideas and useful things" is there in this thread?

And on that note, I am outta here so I want to wish all of you a wonderful weekend. See you all next week, same time, same place, same bat channel.

NO thread goes with only passing words. Sometimes you have to just look a little deeper to understand what is being said.

In 1968 I visited Foreign Cars Of Rockland in Nyack, NY with my boss, the late great Harry Layton of Lee Layton Foreign Cars, in Mahwah, NJ, to see what they had on the lot that day. Here are the ones I remember:
3 Ferrari California roadsters, 2 SWB, 1 LWB
1 Bizzarini coupe
several Iso Grifos and Iso Revoltas, perhaps 5 in total
3 or 4 Ferrari 330 2+2 GTE's (a drug on the market back then)
2 very nice 250 Berlinettas
1 Lancia Flaminia Zagato Coupe
10 or so Jaguar XK's... a 120 fixed head, a '67 3.8S,
several E types and a nice 150 Cabriolet
1 '67 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2
1 very nice silver Lusso Berlinetta...which I did an engine rebuild on years later after it dropped a valve seat (OOOF!).
Edit: I forgot the very early Ferrari Barchetta
And many, many others. None was more than $5000.
Sorry, no GTOs.
I was not shopping that day since I had recently bought a '67 Porsche 912 coupe which I ended up owning for 43 years.

Harry bought the Lancia and the 3.8S...he was a fool for Jags and after all, we were a Lancia dealer, so he HAD to buy the Flaminia.

Bob Grossman, the owner of the joint, was quite a guy. Check out this link:

All these cars could be had for a song back then.

The good old days......

My apologies for the hijack. I'm blaming Randy.:)

So anyway, I thought I would use my KJ saw on my dremel and see how thin I could part off. 0.2mm came out good. But 0.1mm just curled quite bad. My blades are the 30mm diameter ones with quite fine teeth pitch.
Just out of curiosity, I measured the blade, it is not flat but is dished about .02mm per side from the outside to the centre.I have no use for such thin rings but thought I would mention my results. It is important to have the little blades trammed in though.
I have it mounted on a mandrel that screws onto the dremel using the 9/32-40 thread.I prefer to have it as rigid as possible on the dremel. A 1/8 shank seems to flimsy to me.

Common sense would dictate that I'm part of the group who has nothing better to do with some of my time. I would think most would figure that out. I'm sorry you didn't. There is nothing to look deep into this thread which is a total waste of time. You want us to look "a little deeper to understand what is being said". There was nothing being said except cutter blades crashing into headstocks, etc and creating a colorful fireworks display. Unless perhaps you learned something about Ferrari's.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I have work to do so have a nice day.

Gee Joe, sorry you're not getting anything from these threads.
It's kinda like the bank.
If you don't make any deposits, you don't get to make any withdrawals.
I have been on this site a while now and I have yet to see you make one positive deposit (post).
It would appear that AZB may be a waste of your valuable time. Don't you have something better to do ?
The sarcasm, the negativity, the belittling of members, Hell we can get that anywhere.
IF you ever post something of a positive nature I'd certainly be anxious to read it.
More of your negativity, not so much.

And I thought we have been seeing a kind and gentler Joe of late who has been above the fray with a best behavior attitude. He has contributed a lot of great info here for a long time.

Just goes to show how everybody sees things differently.

People should disagree in discussions without mind reading, shaming and blaming. Then things should not escalate to personal stuff.

We all have in our power to change the culture here to peer check and review instead of " it's my way or the highway" reasoning. If someone says something you disagree with, just say nothing.

BTW, I have never participated in a post that went astray and got personal. Swear to God! LOL :bash: :lmao:  :help:

Let's just try to change the culture here to positive and professional. That would be so cool.

JMO,

Rick

Now that was something useful!

Someone whose name escapes me was talking about banking. What I deposited last week they have yet to deposit this year.

People need some to use it. Just curious, is this the same Joe guy that adamantly proclaimed AZB to be nothing more than a "peanut gallery" numerous times yet here we are having a chat?

I don't need to post pictures or talk wildly about how my spinning router slammed into my tailstock to warn others. Just the simple, passing by, mentioning of it may very well be a warning to those who actually do this type of operation to double check everything before pushing go.
So yes,.....there are some things that one with common sense may pick up on that actually use the machines that this could happen with.

You know very well who it is. Perhaps you forgot our many lengthy conversations back in the early 2000's.

In any event, are you talking about the same Joe who published things such as this:
News Group Users Intelligence Level Comparable To This?

And, just to be perfectly clear so there is no misconception here regarding any of my previous comments which I still stand behind. I did in fact refer to news group users as the 'peanut gallery' as well as the 'idiot group'; let's not forget that characterization as well. However, I never "proclaimed" AZ as that newsgroup. In fact, I never mentioned what group I was referring to so your lame attempt at painting a certain picture is just more misinformation that is being published on AZ as usual.

Joe,

It was me who used the term Peanut Gallery. I have used the term Peanut Gallery on another forum many times.

For those who wish to know, The Peanut Gallery was what Buffalo Bob called the audience on the Howdy Doody Show.

The derivative was a Vaudevillian Term:

A peanut gallery was, in the days of vaudeville, a nickname for the cheapest (and ostensibly rowdiest) seats in the theater, the occupants of which were often known to heckle and throw tomatoes.

Just for the record "Peanut Gallery" does not have negative connotation, it is simply a description or narrative that relates to hecklers. Persons who participate in heckling surely know they are doing it and should not be offended by the term at all.

Hence my use in response to hecklers on the other forum was a term of endearment not a slight but I doubt they saw it that way.

Like the song said, "I'm just a soul who's intentions are good, oh Lord please don't let me be misunderstood". LOL

I think it was us who used the term peanut gallery but who cares. The point being that many individuals comment who have no business commenting on certain threads, commenting with misinformation, comment to see their name up in lights or comment just to make an appearance.

What this thread transitioned into is a total waste of human life. It started as being well meaning pointing out that a previous thread went amuck. It then morphed into a meaningless waste of time and effort talking about fireworks displays when people crash their valuable equipment or may even get hurt on machinery. People need to make comments that are well thought out, meaningful and accurate. It doesn't need to be a feeding frenzy all the time nor a vendetta for certain people with frostbitten brains.

The Peanut Gallery can have negative connotation as well as being a term of endearment depending how its used and who uses it.

And on that note, I'm done.

I would love, love, love to run across one of those chuckler's who thought he had some cash.... And wanted to bet how much room that truck actually has to spare.
