Fear of Feel

I love this thread. After reading this I can't make a ball with a garden rake.

Everybody makes aiming seem so hard, I'm waiting for people to break out their protractors and slide rules at the table.

If you have to do all these aims, moves, adjustments, recalculations, pivots, etc., just to make a ball, I think you need to be playing another game.

Watch the video of the 3 year old snooker prodigy from China...I don't think he does all this.

Aloha.

So,, because a prodigy doesn't do it, that's supposed to mean us mere mortals don't have to do it?

Try describing how you actually aim and see how it goes. Care to take Collin's potting test, or Dr. Dave's BU exams and show us all how it's supposed to be done?

I've seen the show "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader", but are you telling me that a 3-year-old can figure it out and people playing for dozens of years need all this mumbo-jumbo to do the same thing?

Well, you are way older than 3. You must have it all figured out by now. Let's see you take those tests I mentioned so we can be amazed at your top scores.

We introduced the 'Ultimate Aiming System' and the rest is history.

Yes, aiming is the easiest part of pool. I was running racks of eight-ball when 11 and ran my first rack of rotation at 13.

It was over 15 years later than I first heard of an "aiming system," so I decided to figure out how we "aimed" and discovered that I used the center or edge of the object ball for ALL shots......then we introduced the 'Ultimate Aiming System' and the rest is history.

And these salesmen have figured out everything but how to prove their claims of mathematical correctness. How convenient. Now any schmuck in search of a few bucks is coming out with a system. Pretty easy when you don't actually have to prove that it works as claimed.

I think Patrick and others are so right in what they say about the subjectivity involved in cte.

I also think cte is a great way to learn how to aim. The benefit in cte is how it takes away the conscious act of lining the shot up precisely and it allows the subconscious to work. I think someone who uses and PUTS IN THE PRACTICE on what Stan teaches will succeed in learning how to pocket balls without much thought. Thats not neccessarily true for someone who practices ghost ball or contact point to contact point or whatever... they may never get out of conscious override mentality.

I jusr dont understand the need to argue against such strong counters on the objectivity of the system. Everytime a cte user tries to win the argument it seems they end up making statements that most intelligent people will clearly see as false therby taking away the credibility of the system.

Just keep it real imo. Its a subconscious aiming system that is incredibly effective once learned and practice that doesnt require much conscious thought at all.

The statement stands as was.......honestly! I am growing weary of the nonsense that occurs here.....and no longer wish to deal with haters like you that have zero intentions of learning CTE....I am not needed here any longer and I am better off joining those that have been run off of AZ.....I have projects that are better suited for my time than dealing with someone like you.

Stan Shuffett

We may have disagreed on some things and exchanged some banter back and forth but in all honesty I am glad to have come across both you and your system. I know you think I am also a hater but its not true and I just wanted to say thanks and good luck in whatever future projects you pursue.

You're amazing, so amazing, so amazing, yes amazing!

Ok thats overdoing it but seriously, your system without some of the claims, is good imo if that means anything at all.

The BANK is closed, there's been no selling or promoting of anything on here. Just a lot of banter to pass the time. Stop back when the Banks open.

SS has left (I don't see his posts unless someone quotes him because he's been on my ignore list)? That's sad...it's sad because he did not take his storm troopers with him!

I read about different "aiming systems" many years ago. Bob Jewett was the author of most of the articles. However, I never though much about how I aimed. I think I ran my first rack of 8-ball when I was about 10. I too used either the center or edge of the object ball for all shots, but my initial target was always the cue ball. All my aiming was done before I got "down" to shoot!
BTW, I'm loving your DVD's! I thank you for all the positive things you do for this sport! I mean that sincerely!

The benefit in cte is how it takes away the conscious act of lining the shot up precisely and it allows the subconscious to work.

I think you meant, "The benefit in cte is how it takes away the anxiety of lining the shot up perfectly and it allows the subconscious to work to help me aim, relaxed."

I always enjoy playing pool consciously, not subconsciously, or unconsciously! You meant, "Relaxed and in the zone."
