I have this Gina and will likely be listing it for sale in the next week or two.

I'm not very familiar with Ernie's cues but I believe this one is from the early to mid 90's. Anyone with knowledge can chime in, by all means.

I especially like the simple design with the ivory dots all set in ebony and the 5 veneer colors he used really make it pop, imo. I have never run across the combination of a salmony-orange with red, natural and black. I like it!

Looks like a nice ivory butt cap, as well.

Cool cue, great fit and finish, the man apparently knows what he's doing. :grin-square::cool::wink::cool:

Nice looking Ginacue. I like the five veneers!

If you look down into the joint by the pin, you will see Ginacue, and the code for your cue, which informs of:

Year the cue was made,
type of joint (S or I) for steel/ivory, and
the number of the cue.

If you have trouble finding, send me a PM.

Will, you were right.

inside the base of the joint, surrounding the pin, it is inscribed "Ginacue 94-S-209"

thank you for the tip.

That's actually a faux ivory butt cap that Ernie uses on his less expensive cues. An ivory butt cap upgrade on this cue would have been an extra $400 at the time. When the cue was made it would have been around $1700 without the dots, so assuming the add-ons were around 300 bucks the cue would have been around the $2000 mark. Hope this helps! Great looking Gina!

Hi Brandon;

In doing a couple of lookups I did come across a couple of mrntions that Ernie has used a faux ivory butt cap that is hard to distinguish from real ivory and I'm thinking you're def right, this is likely one of those.

And I will agree with the others who said, this material looks real. Once again, I guess this cuemaker knows what he's doing.

Let me ask this because I was planning to sell this cue and in my dealings I always try to be fair.

If you figure that back in 94 when this cue was made it may have been right around $2k, what would be the right number today?

Anyone with a good feel for these, by all means, let me know what you think.

I paid a good bit north of $2k and I was planning to ask $2500 thinking that was fair.

Am I off in my thinking?

I can always hang on til themarket becomes a bull again. :grin-square:

thx for sharing what you know. :)

When I looked at this cue before I thought it had a leather wrap, but that's actually linen isn't it? It might not have been refinished as I previously thought.

I'd say $2500 is more than fair actually. If it was mine I would probably ask $3k for it. It's pretty unique with those dots and Ernie doesn't even take orders anymore and hasn't made a cue under the 5K mark in years. Once he retires, which will be soon, you'll wish you could buy it back for what you're selling it for today haha.

Great cue! Love it.

I think if you got the $2K you would be fortunate.

I have had his cues and they play great and shafts were perfect.

Only Ginacue I ever saw that I liked. That's a nice one!

Perhaps you should look a bit harder. Ernie produced lots of great cues.

I agree that it would be better if the cue has linen than to have a non-Gina leather wrap. If you want leather on a Ginacue, have Ernie install it.

(I know the first part of your post was not directed to me)

Could be my photo taking skills need some improving.

This Gina has black with very pale blue speck linen wrap. ;)

At first, Brandon also thought it was leather.
