Why people leave the forum.....

You have no idea, Tate.
It's sad to see Figueroa, and to a lesser extent Johnson, belittle Joey, in as much as their contributions to this forum pale by comparison.
I have yet to see, in the many years that I have been here, either one of these two add anything substantial to this website. All it has ever been from these two is criticism and derision. Never have I seen either one of them give a fellow member a "well done". Never have I seen either one of these two tell a fellow member that the picture of their cue looks great, or their table restoration is first rate. Whatever their contribution has been, it's been negative.
They have few friends.

lol, just in this thread I gave out a "post of the year " nomination.

BTW, just in case you're serious, TS, I would put up my record of contributions here the last 10 years, up against just about anyone's, including Joey's and certainly yours.

I just choose not to do much anymore.

Mike,
You and I have never met (to the best of my knowledge), but you ALWAYS carry yourself with dignity and respect even when others do not. I would bet my last dollar that you are the same in person.

JoeyA

Appreciate it!

Best,
Mike

Some folks just love an argument and/or to agitate. Some berate or talk down to others so they appear superior (it actually makes them feel superior I would imagine). Some just throw crap out there to see if it sticks, and if it does, then just continue to stir the pot. There is very seldom a reason one should become uncivil or rude in my view, and when I see it, I don't even bother reading the rest, I just skip to something else. I got no time for stupid shit from people that act like they know everything, or that they are always right, and everyone else is always wrong. Ahhhh the ego of pool players. :rotflmao1:

A handful of reasons

A handful of reasons for basically leaving: Some of the very best posters let little things like dying be excuses for quitting posting. Others boogied over to facebook. We lost some good posters to Jimbo's Army too.

Just like AZB's assent damaged other gatherings, Facebook and other social media has damaged AZB.

There is another issue too. Take a look at how many subforums there are. How many of the subforums are pool related? These subforums that are directly pool related like aiming and straight pool need to be brought back to the main forum. The action room too. One reason the main forum is dead is much of the pool related content has been moved off of it. Many don't go to the subforums so the traffic is just lost.

I rarely play pool after losing my home to Isaac and moving where there isn't a pool hall within fifty miles that I know of. If I make three balls in a row in the bars I am labeled a hustler, I don't need the headache. I have given my opinion on anything remotely pool related and typed a few stories until I am tired of reading them. After awhile I figure everyone already knows anything I have to say.

Not gonna engage in the bickering but I gotta laugh about calling Joey a nit. He has played games for more than most people on here have played sets for. As for using the red riffle as an authority, . . . jamie calling someone a nit is like a pissant calling an elephant Shorty! Only a fool plays him in his own room for real money. You can lose and pay, no guarantees you will be paid if you win on his gaffed up tables even with the money on the light. I drove right by the Corner for years to drive to Buffalo's to play pool.

Welcome to the internet, where carrying a gun won't guarantee respect and courtesy like it did in the old west.

Which reminds me. I saw 2 funny tee shirts at Cabelas yesterday.

One was: Sure, it's all fun and games until someone loses a Wall Eye.

And: Rock, Paper, Gun. "I Win".

I don't totally know the entire situation, only Joey does if he knows the persons AZ name. It is pretty vague to any of us if we can't relate to who that member was.

But, I agree with banks. Sounded a bit Passive Aggressive to me also.

It's like the girl who calls you up and says, "I just want to check and see if you still don't want me to ever call you again".

I'm going to leave so maybe you can talk me into not leaving, ok.

It's like, sure, ok, go ahead, leave, bye, see ya.

I have thought about cutting back a bit on my browsing at AZ at times. Even in the Summer, when I am mostly fishing, I always find time to stop in and read.

I can assure anyone, that if I ever thought of cutting back, it wouldn't have been for any member, or members and any particular posts that pissed me off.

It would have been mostly because I got tired of seeing the same Threads posted daily. You know, Shafts, LD Shafts, tips, chalk, how to make Milk Duds.

A person can only skim over a certain amount of daily Pap without yearning for something to read.

Oh, and How Great Thou Art Threads. Click on the Thread and read all about me. I have new stories to relate on how great I am.

Yeah, and I will probably try to sell you a DVD in the process.

Glad that he hasn't found NPR yet.

But yeah, there are quite a few good posters and story tellers like Hu that I wouldn't want to completely lose touch with also.

Lack of a next Level

My opinion is there is a lack of the next level. We talk about Pool and have covered a lot of subjects so the next level is playing the game. Ive gotten to meet a few folks from here, just a few over a lot of years.

Challenge Matches would be good as gentlemen of course.

It pool, at a point the talk isn't going anywhere much.

I do think the subforums had killed off the conversation and perhaps we need another Aiming War...lol....It always made for lively debate that's for sure.

Hu,

It is with great delight that I see LOU-ZER, quoting a self-admitted liar and cheat. That confirms what I and others have said about LOU-ZER. (Birds of a feather thing.....)

LOU-ZER carries the pool room tales like a little spoiled, jealous child and the fact that he is quoting someone whose character is infamously flawed, speaks volumes about LOU-ZER'S own character.

I think it is safe to say that I have played more strangers who have come looking for a pool game than anyone at my home pool room and probably more than most, who have never been on the road. Hell, just last week I played an International Pool Champion, heads-up for $30 a game and I didn't know how he played one pocket but figured it would be good experience for me. (BTW, even though my pool game is not at the level I would like because of the gym workouts, I won.:yes:)

It is also safe to say that I have had the decency to avoid playing "family men" for large sums of money. I also avoid playing drunk people for money as well and I have had plenty of opportunities to do so. Taking advantage of family men for large sums of money should be left to the Lou Figueroas of the world. Using other people's money to do your dirt simply speaks more volumes about LOU-ZER's character.

You are also not likely to see me trying to slander good and decent people who are trying to make a living and trying to make the pool world a better place (like LOU-ZER) continues to do.

I'll leave this thread with what I started it with. People leave this forum because they see the slimy, putrid way that people talk and hound one another on this forum. I'm ashamed that I have to get down in the mud and call a spade a spade but sometimes you just can't hold your tongue.

To those who are repulsed by my description of LOU-ZER'S character, I apologize, but people should know the truth. It stinks and I don't like responding to the taunts by LOU-ZERs of the forum so I won't be posting in this thread anymore but I'm sure the LOU-ZERS of the forum will continue to beat the drums hoping to lure me back in.
JoeyA

As most everyone knows about me, I bet my own money. I stand on my own two feet and I don't allow small-minded people with vengeance on their mind to influence who or what I play for. On very rare occasions I have allowed acquaintances to stake me in games that they create. I don't like friends to stake me because I don't want to see them risk their money.

Unlike LOU-ZER, I don't run around the country going to different pool rooms whining like a spoiled child that I could not find anyone to gamble with. That's real NIT TALK. :killingme::killingme::killingme:

There is an answer to this dilemma. I think if I remember correctly that an aiming thread got going on the main forum after Stan left and it was allowed to run at times got a little rough because some of the same characters were arguing over some of the same subjective/objective arguments.

All of this was let go and it wasn't relegated to the aiming forum. So my thing is if you feel so inclined to open up a subject....let it rip in the main forum and after awhile some of those subforums might not exist at least the ones that have little traffic.

The only pity about the subjects being in the main is that when its not talked about anymore it goes in the hole and new people have no access to it because as far as they know it doesn't exist.

Hu, I don't know Jamie personally. And I have only played at this room once. The table I played on at his place played fine -- there was nothing gaffed about it. I do know that he is generally considered the best pool player in Louisiana. All I know about him is stuff I hear from other guys, some of whom change their story from white to black as it suits their hypocritical purposes.

"I'm playing the best pool of my life."

"I'm seeing the shot more clearly than ever."

No, they're not my words. In fact, it came to me as a surprise and out of the blue. It was Jamie Farrell (Louisiana's best pool player)who articulated those two quotes to me today.

I asked him how did he come to make this jump in skill since he has been a great player for 10 years or more and he said it was because of a chance meeting with Rodney Morris who is a friend of a friend. Jamie went on to tell me what Rodney had said and I was kind of stunned. I thought maybe someone put Jamie up to ribbing me or that Jamie himself had come up with a little joke, but as I listened to his story, I realized that this wasn't a joke at all.

Jamie regularly plays very tough matches primarily because he loves to play competitively and it is hard for him to get any easy games as everyone knows how well he plays and how hard he practices.

Anyway, he's telling me that Rodney Morris had told him of this aiming method where you move the eyes to a certain position and it allows you to align yourself so that it is easier to make the ball because you can see the shot the way that you should see the shot, perfectly. Now Jamie doesn't know a lot about the Internet and doesn't really do any posting to speak of. I don't think he can type very well. Lol Well, he might not be able to type well, but the guy played like burning hell before Rodney shared his secret with him.

As for me..... Facebook has had little to do with my lack of participation as of late.
To be specific its Lou and few others like him. I'm no bad ass but if me and Lou played in the same room, there would have been several times I would have got up from my computer and went straight to his ass. I also believe he chooses his battles according to area code. It's not just Lou but he is the main one that comes to mind. Rather than let people like him get me worked up when I can't put my hands on him I just rather go dig a ditch or something else. This board would be a much better place without him.

Then we have our Trolls that start ridiculous threads to humor theirselves just hoping they can get under someone's skin, usually with a few targets in mind.
I think the fix is simple..... I'm NO WHERE near the sharpest person on this forum and I can distinguish between the malicious posters and the rest of the forum posters.
Problem is they get away with it and they're killing this forum.
My answer is Mod me.... I can fix the BS

You think CJ and others could just walk into a bar or hall and just say whatever they want about their systems and other things for sale, but they wouldn't hear anything in return? Day after day? You need to get out more. How about Barton? You also think he could've gone into his little freak-out tirades and attempts to high roll, but he'd not hear anything?

Seriously, sometimes I think the panties are getting pretty deep around here.

I saw you quote PPD have no idea why Petey would be upset with me -- I've had him on Ignore for years and never see his posts, much less respond to him. He proved to me a long time ago his posts come with no value added. This last one would be a good example.

This and others post just prove my point about piss poor mods.

If this and some others post in this thread are not about attacking members, name calling, well I just don't know what would be.

Also leads me to believe banning is just on who complains rather than trying to set a standard for all to abide by on the forums.

Also, those that seem to believe they are gods gift to the pool world, such as CJ and few others, have pretty much killed this forum.

Damn right it's about 1 poster that I named.
Also it's laughable that you mention reporting posts since 1 of the things about Lou that irritated me the most was his REPORTING of Spiderwebbcoms videos claiming it to be offensive and then admitting later it was just taking advantage of an opportunity in a different "cleanse the forum " conversation . I also noticed you pointing at CJ as killing the forum..... A bit hypocritical don't you think?

I love AZB. I personally vowed never to post on NPR. It's been working out quite well!

Some drunk posts on my favorite car forum's political page got out of hand... lol
